Compass 185
This may seem a little petty. We purchased a new Compass/Hymer 185 in Oct 2020. Been fairly pleased with it, had a few warranty claims which have all been paid.

I noticed at the weekend the brackets that support the grey waste and the fresh water tank outlet have rusted. Not just a little but all the paint is falling off.

Which you can clearly see from the photo.

Hymer rejected the claim for 2 new brackets because rust is only covered for the first year.

I think this is not acceptable and have referred it to Trading Standards.

But what do others think?

The van has never been out on a salty road and is stored in a barn over winter.

Everything no matter how new needs to be maintained, metal exposed to the elements will rust, either clean them up and repaint them with hammerite or make some new ones out of alloy. Most motorhomers enjoy “fettling” with their vans and gives them a sense of accomplishment…

Besides the fact that I wouldn’t go near a dealer to fix anything on a van I do think you are expecting a little too much out of a warranty…😎
