I'm running an old 240v table top freezer in the shed off a 40w panel and 475w victron inverter on an old Land Rover battery. It's only set on 2°c though.

I've fitted a 12v digital controller module that switches the inverter off via a 40a relay avoiding the 400ma quiescent drain.

So far so good, only been partly sunny today and the solar controller says "absorption" so seems to be coping ok, I might drop it to -18c tomorrow 🤓

The temperature drops after the compressor stops because the evap is over sized for a fridge.

Did you continue the trial? Has it worked at all?? I think people are curious what happened (if anything?) This is a skilled setup so maybe we could learn something?

Yes still running at 2°c, I've been monitoring the temperature overnight with a Bluetooth gadget. For some reason it doesn't cut in at it's normal temperature and drifts up to over 3°c 🤔

Last night I left the charger on in case the battery was giving up without the solar but it's done exactly the same, drifted up all night then cut in at 7.15am. The 12v controller was showing it's usual 2°c though so I'm probably seeing a discrepancy between the 2 sensors at night... 🤔For some reason. More thought required.

I've left it on 2°c because I but some beer in it 👌😎

All's working ok, now we're getting warmer nights at 9°c the controller is cutting in a couple of times in the night. We're just seeing the discrepancy between the position of the controller sensor and the logger sensor, the logger sensor isn't controlling the compressor of course👌
