We're heading from Belgium-Spain shortly, in the car.
Everyone will have the favourite but I'm looking for a good non toll route from Ghent to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, southern France. We have traveled several times in the car and the van north and south and prefer going into Spain over the Pyrenees to Pamplona then across to where we stay in central Portugal. We take a slightly different route north of the pyrenees each time but after some possible new ideas.
I know theres loads of you who swear by toll roads but other than our first trip south back in 2010 we've always managed and prefer to avoid them. Got the time and don't want to spend the money on the toll roads, prefer to spend it in the village bakeries we go through on the way lol.
Travelled up three weeks ago, 1300miles door-door 2 1/2 days driving.
Please don't spend your time writing it all down for me but if you've a route recorded somewhere that would be great.
Cheers
Shawn
