After dissapearing off to caravans for a few years we've got ourselves a motorhome again. We always like older vehicles, although less so when I'm underneath them, so we've gone for a 1992 Exclusive on a Talbot chassis with a 2L petrol engine. She's in good nick, and not much in the way of rust. Just need to dig my knowledge of carburettors and distributors from the back of my memory!
A couple of jobs to do. Need to replace the frost damaged water heater, then a service, and a bit of solar.

always loved these but never had one.

She looks great, enjoy your travels 👍

Always liked the look of those Auto Sleepers. Tops is a GRP molding so should stay watertight.

Got a few jobs ticked off the list today
Oil &filter
Air fliter
Spark plugs
Ignition leads
Fuel filter
Blanked the fuel return pipe
Fitted new fuel line from the pump to carb
Cleaned up the connection on the temperature sender, so it now works all of the time and not just now and again
Replaced connector to oil pressue sensor, so it now works
Fitted replacement water heater
Kicked over the container of old oil, and made a mess on the driveway. Not told the missus yet, parked the car over it instead!

Does it still have points and a condenser or more modern?

Distributor and carbs are much easier to fix than ECUs….

Enjoy

I put an electronic ignition set in the distributor of my Morris Minor. Much better ignition and running characteristics and no more messing about adjusting the barsteward things every 1000 miles or so. Only about £25 too! Search electronic ignition or electronic points on tinternet. Worth their weight in gold and much easier to set up than old fashioned points and fit in the original distributor.

Cheers!

Bit more today.
Change the reg to one we had on retention
Removed the original stickers ready for the new ones arriving
Washed, machine polished, and waxed.
Tried out the windscreen cover I found reduced the other day as a return.

Love these vans, good luck with it and hope you enjoy many trips, although once your wife sees the drive I’m not sure you be able to enjoy anything 😂😂

what a great looking van

Welcome back

Lovely old bus.
Keeping things simple and able to be repaired and maintained without the need for some current questionable dealer practices and customer service
I like it. My kind of project.
Enjoy every moment.

For my own amusement as much as anything, I've gone and done a walkaround video, and setup a youtube channel where we're planning to document our travels.

A couple of the engine mounts needed replacing, so in case it was useful to anyone I've done a little video as I went along.
