Rapido V56
Exp
Just starting
We got our Rapido V56 in January and of course haven't had much practise with it apart from over wintering. We have discovered that the insect blinds/nets have a bit of mildew on them. I have tried cleaning them with a mild detergent solution and a gentle cloth and some comes out but there is still a bit left as well as where the blind meets the fixture. Does anyone have a good solution as to the best way to clean them ? and how do I keep mildew free ?? Thanks ....

In the absence of any information I would be going with a diluted milton spray and no scrubbing.

Thats what I would be doing and I wouldnt necessarily follow that advice with any conviction unless someone else has tried as well successsfully

I’ve used Dettol Mould and Mildew remover spray successfully in the past on a caravan blind.....spray and wipe and leave it for a few hours and all signs of black marks were gone...make sure you allow fresh air into the van on a regular basis ??

Thanks for all the suggestions so far... I have a feeling we didn't let enough air into the camper, and yes definitely not fly poo....

Mould and mildew cleaners work but are typicaly bleach based And may rot many plastic or cotton woven fabrics. The last time i had a problem was with the roof tent on the bongo.
When using bleach based product lots of ventilation and washing/ flushing is required. It may return. When it did i used advice from the bongo forum and used clove oil and gentle application. The mildew did not return during my ownership.

Thanks for the tip. I didn’t use bleach based products at all. I tried gentle application with a mild detergent solution which worked partially. I’ll get some clove oil too (and keep what left over for future tooth aches!)

i would be checking to see why theyve gone mildew?
Me too,but difficult to judge as OP has only had van since January and it’s not been used much.
I would be worried it was caused by water ingress, worth checking with a damp meter.
