Roof sealant.

Hi all,
I'm thinking of painting over the roof seams with transparent sealant as a preventive measure against possible future leaks. Has anyone done this?

Hi Neil,
You could do but , there's always a but, Usually the seams are made with a silcaflex /bonder/sealer.
This is designed to seal it and stay slightly flexible also stick surfaces together.
We use it in work, it is also used to bond in modern windscreens.
It`s consistency is of a boot rubber when cured.
So , if you paint it over it will probably crack where the sealer is as it`s flexible/ moves with panels as you drive along .
