I'm a newbie
Hi
I have a Bessacarr e445 2003 which I purchased last march. I noticed when I cleaned the roof last September that the outer skin in a small place had come detached from the inner and when pressing your hand on it, it is like a bubble anyway I was away in it when we had the bad winds in November/December. When cleaning the roof this weekend the roof seems to have detached right across from one side to the other. I have a large solar panel attached to it. Is this going to be a massive issue.
I am looking for some good advice please.

Are you sure that it has delaminated, and it's not just the "floating roof" construction that some manufactures use, like our Elddis ?

Many motorhomes these days (including Swift) have 'floating roofs' where the outer skin is not bonded due to the differing expansion rates.

Is the solar panel just bonded to the top surface or screwed through ?

As I said it wasn’t no where near as bad as it was in September. The noise out of it when the wind gets hold of it is deafening but they were bad gales/winds

Our Chausson has a floating roof, but Chausson state that it is ok to screw through the roof into the substrate as long as it is not within 200mm of the edge of the roof. But anywhere screws go through into the substrate must take away any chance of it floating at that point ?

Like, as you said if a solar panel is fixed on using screws into the substrate.

Doesn't bonding a solar panel to a floating roof also cause problems with expansion rates? I guess a solid solar panel could have different expansion properties to the floating roof to which it is bonded

No idea on that, but I put two 6mm bolts through the roof right into the hab area with spreader plates from the solar panel front and back feet. That bit of roof is total not floating now !
