Hi
Considering a Autoroller 746 I have the payload for a manual of 425kg does this reduce for the auto. I am looking around 2020/21 on a Fiat.

The payload on that one is going to cause you problems.

You can uprate it to 3650 (if your licence allows) but even then you will only have 575 kgs of payload available.

It is a 6 berth so how many people would be in it ? Allow 75kgs per person (I hope that is polite) so 4 people and 300 kgs has jsut disappeared.
Full tank of diesel with tank of water might be another 150Kgs, leaving you with 125kgs for an awning, leisure battery, solar panels and gas tanks.
Were you thinking of taking bikes ? clothes? food ? cutlery and pans ? books, tv, hygiene stuff, duvets, maps, cushions, spare shoes, outdoor furniture, electric lead, etc etc.

And that is on the assumption they havent made the figures better to make it sound as if that is a lot of payload

With the way we motorhome, the van wouldnt be suitable for us, but you may do it differently and making some adjustments to the van might suit you, but weight ought to be your main consideration and the weight on this one isnt the best.

Good luck with your searching

Thanks for this.
Normally only two of us occasionally the Grandaughter may come. We are trying to avoid above 3.5 as approaching the big 70 and due to medical issues will lose my c1. There will be no bikes but we do tend to carry a lot of just in case bits,so I guess we will have to limit this.
Do you know if the auto box reduces the payload.

Havent got a clue I m afraid.

All very personal as to what to buy and what set up etc. There arent many 7.5 m vans under 3.5 tonne limit. 6 berths seems a lot for the usage as you will have a lounge and a dining room but no fixed bed for generally 2 people.

Out of interest, what took you to this model ? Or is there one that you spotted that you like ?

Mmm it’s not that I am indecisive but have yo-yod from caravans to motorhomes for-the last twenty years. I previously had a 746 but chopped it for a caravan decided that a Motorhome was more suitable so have had a couple of motorhomes since currently I haveA Chauson with single beds above the garage and unfortunately find sleeping claustrophobic.
The 746 we found good in so much as we could have the benefit of a large lounge during the day good bed space at night no climbing over each other during the night for the bathroom, and when the wife wakes up with the larks she is able to make herself a cuppa and sit in the dinning area.
We also found the over cab bed great for storing bedding coats etc
