We got our first campervan in July 2024. This is our first so we’re new!
Hi All,

I’ve got a 230Ah Roamer seatbase battery that has Bluetooth but I can’t find it when I ‘scan’ in the Roamer app.

I’ve used the LightBlue app and it finds it so Bluetooth is working on the battery but the app can’t find it.

Anyone with experience of Roamer batteries any ideas as to how I might get this to work?

I would contact Roamer and ask if they had any app updates, or any solution other solution.

We’ve got the the Roamer 230 seat base battery and connection to the app is best described as ‘flaky’. Sometimes you can see the battery and other times it takes an eternity.

Because we bought ours through Offgrid Power Solutions, when I called Roamer to register the battery this was their reply.

He will need to support you as best as he can, but he is more than welcome to contact us for advice and clarification etc.
We don’t mind supporting you direct with little things like this though.

The app simply needs to be closed down completely before you re-connect.

If you need an easier way to see the battery state, a SmartShunt or BMV712-SMART would be my recommendation. The BMV has a small screw that can be fitted anywhere in the van, and also Bluetooth to link to your phone with historical data etc.

I ve recently got the fogstar app and when I open it, the battery is located. If I then use another app or leave it alone for a couple of minutes the app is still available but with no readings, so I have to close the app and then reopen it and it is located and working.
Dont know if that helps

There is a new App for the new Smart4 Batteries but unfortunately it is still awaiting approval by the stores. I was referred to these links by Roamer as a temporary measure. The IOS one works for me.

Thanks… I’ll give that app a go today 👍🏻

I heard JBD bms generic app works across many batteries. I have not tried it. The JK app will not give you all the features of a jk bms, but it will work. To pair the app, pass is 1234, and the pass for settings is 123456, that if bms allows that kind of access. I always modify the settings to my custom values, stock settings are wild and stupidly set.

The JK App is the one that Roamer said would work with their new BMS. They told me it had limited features but their new Roamer Smart4 App has full features and should be available on the stores soon. It is a new App to go with their new BMS.

The 1234 worked to connect but the 123456 didn’t work to access the settings I’m afraid, nor did 12345678, 0000 or 000000.

I guess that The JK app can’t do this with a Roamer battery.

But I can see the status so that’s a step in the right direction 😊

Thanks Pausim

The JK app connects and I can see the status but can’t access the settings as the passwords I’ve tried don’t work (123456, 12345678, 0000 and 000000)

I’ve tried the Roamer app again and that still won’t connect so I guess I’ll wait until the stores approve the new Roamer app and keep my fingers crossed that it connects.

Seems strange that a generic app will find the battery but not the actual app from the manufacturer 🤔

Thanks Raul

The default JK settings is 123456, but roamer must of restricted that bms settings access. I think that it’s normal. For certain settings you can contact roamer for access, and will be specific to individual. Like short circuit current sensitivity, some turn the protection ON to early, when you hook up a inverter, and you need to adjust the sensitivity.

As with regards to manufacturer app, there is no such think. There is only 4-5 bms manufacturers, with generic apps, some with their own. All others are just overlays for each importer/ reseller, with their own logos and restricted access.

Thanks Raul

Try 888888 using the Roamer app. That’s what Roamer told me to adjust parameters etc.

Hi Gerry77

My Roamer app won’t find the battery, that was my problem.

I’ve tried 888888 in the JK app and it doesn’t work to access the settings 🙁

Thanks anyway 👍🏻

New BMS, the old App is probably tied to the BMS they are no longer using. Until the new Apps are available I don’t think you will be able to access the settings.

On my Roamer app if I'm near to other Bluetooth devices, even other vans my search function or scan, picks up everything in Bluetooth range...sometimes my Roamer battery isn't visible, however I have needed to scroll up to find it in my list..

Mine doesn’t pick up anything… even though there are other Bluetooth devices around 🤔

And it is allowed access to Bluetooth 🤔🤔

I recently bought a seatbase smart 4 from Roamer. The iOS app is still pending approval by the App Store. I posted a query on their campervan electrics fb page but they removed it.

That is a very disappointing way of dealing with a legitimate query.

I contacted Roamer today and they told me that the first version of their SMART app is now available and sure enough it is…

It seems to connect to my 230ah Seatbase battery ok but not tried to do anything with it yet.

I’ve got it now! It connects fine.
I’ll compare the readings with my victron shunt once I’ve hooked up the battery.
