Hi

So I cabled our house in Spain for RJ45 Cameras.

The Cameras and the DVR box have been rubbish.

I am looking at replacing with a new System. Seems some of the likes of HikVision are still on BNC?

Not wishing to re-cable the house yet again, can I use BNC cabling for other systems, bearing in mind they will require a 12v supply to the new cameras ?

You can get video over CAT5 converters there are very cheap ones but better to buy quality one.
When I used to install digital signage we used a company in Manchester that makes them very reliable and not that expensive.
I can find out who it was if you want.

Hi Lenny, That would be great, thank you. Trev

Not much help found them but they only do VGA & HMDI over CAT5.
With BNC's I assume it will be composite video.
I've asked a guy who I used to work with if he can recommend anything.

At home I installed Hikvision IP cameras, connected to Power over Ethernet switches (PoE) hooked up to an old DELL tower server running Windows 10 with a free copy of Milestone XProtect software. The free version of XProtect supports up to 8 cameras.

We used XProtect to manage the 40+ CCTV cameras in the school where I was network manager (before retiring).

Fancy a free Spanish Holiday (wink)

Most of my cameras are poe hikvision ptz cameras which are all linked to my synology storage system. The synology comes with 2 licenses built in and the rest I purchased but it's a one off purchase for each camera you add. I have 8 on mine covering the whole house including the side where the motorhome is parked. I like hikvision as they have been super reliable and been running these for years with no issues. You can pickup the same ptz cameras from annke for as little as £120 each as they are just rebadged but identical on the inside.
Poe from my experience is far superior to the old bnc style and worth the additional cost for better quality and more flexibility.
Some worry about hikvision being Chinese but mine are on their own IOT network which is segmented from the my main network so no concerns for me but I think even that's overkill to be honest.

Appreciate you are in Spain, but these guys supplied my system which is all run in CAT5 and is Power Over Ethernet POE where the DVR powers the cameras which are 48 volt (POE standard in most cases). Mine was £425 in Jan this year for 4 channel DVR with 1TB hard drive, pole mounting brackets, two bullet cameras which incorporate a led light so the van isn’t in darkness for better nighttime recording and a dome camera. With this system you only need one power supply.

This is a copy of the order if you want to compare specs.

They recommend Tiandy over Hikvision and if you can pay by BACS they can give you a slightly better price. Really please with Tiandy and you can get the app to view remotely when you are away.

They should be able to ship to Spain.
