Bought our Katamarano14 Plus new from M & C Ltd, Stoneferry Road, Hull in May 2017. One down side is having to travel 100+ miles to visit them as they are the major[very friendly and helpful] Rimor dealer in the UK. It was £41K brand new and you can see the cost savings compared to our previous Chausson, both being Renault powered, but a brand new motorhome for £41K who can quibble at that? The Thetford fridge gubbins that selects 12v., mains or gas didn't work from day one, we discovered this in France and consequently used ACSI sites for the three week trip - not a hardship. Coming from a JLR dealership where PDIs are standard practice I was surprised that a thorough PDI had not been carried out by the dealer, perhaps this is standard...
I take it no one has one of these. Assume they are as rare as hens teeth ?

See loads in France and Italy (they are made in Italy) and always here positive views from the owners we talk to. No specifics but they seem a decent “Icecream van”

We have a dealer in Hull, looked at the rimors and john likes the new van conversion, i don't.
We were put off by something which we now think may be an advantage, if still the same, am talking 14 years ago, but still go for a look round sometimes.
the weight was the vehicle, without leisure battery or any other accessories, can't remember if it included driver/ fuel/water. What at first looked like a massive payload might have been eaten up by add ons.

The one I was looking is at Hull. Reasonably happy with the van we have . It's just getting old ,like us and fancied a fixed bed also like the separate shower and toilet.

There is a section on here about different makes. Go to “Forums” at top of page, then scroll down through all the different ones and you will find Rimor. Not much up to date stuff on there but you could ask the owners shown for opinions/advice

Coming from a JLR dealership where PDIs are standard practice I was surprised that a thorough PDI had not been carried out by the dealer, perhaps this is standard in the motorhome world. A two hundred+ mile trip up to Hull after the French holiday had the problem rectified with a new, shiny Thetford box, it has performed perfectly ever since. Over the seven years and 42K miles there have been very few niggles, the shower tray started showing hair line cracks, M & C replaced it free of charge within the warrantee period. It didn't come with Remis blinds just a generic set of internal padded blinds which were quite effective. Once the Remis people produced blinds for this model of Master I bought them and M & C fitted them for a very reasonable £70. For such a good value for money motorhome I am surprised by the lack of Rimors around, during our Italy Lakes trip in September last year I thought there would be plenty of examples in Rimor's native land - not so, they were very few and far between, can't comment about UK popularity as we only take European holidays. I think that if you want a good value for money motorhome from a friendly dealer[Steve and Karen are always willing to help] then explore the wide range of Rimors available in the UK.

Been around in the UK as a caravan brand since c.1960s I'd say ? I wasn't brought up going camping and only personally discovered tent camping in 1967, and then 10-ish years later, caravans so recall looking at any number of second hand (couldn't possibly afford new) Adria and Rimor and other brands from then. Trouble was by that time we'd moved on from everything 'bright orange and angled' in furnishings styles but the S/H Adria and Rimor vans hadn't - so I stipulated to husband #1 that I didn't care much what we looked at as long as it wasn't one of them ! :giggle:

None of that is of any help to you whatever I realise, except to let you know they're a long running manufacturer and I've never heard any bad press about them AFAIK.

We've just bought an Evo Sound and must say not impressed with the build quality. The van itself is good but let down by stupid balls ups that really should have been picked up by both Rimor and the dealership. The table that forms the main lower bed was too small for the hole so it falls through. Had to add a baton to keep it in place. Weirdly the single lower bed has the opposite problem where the table is too big for the hole and doesnt fit at all. The bed extension doesn't fit very well and falls off so I'll have to think of a fixing method for that. 2 trips in, the drawer runner fell off, part of the door trim fixing to the toilet door missed what it's supposed to be attached to so I'll need to put some glue behind that. The boot lid stay bar clip fell off which allowed the pivot to twist and subsequently broke off the stay altogether. I'll need to 3D print a replacement for that. Breaker tripped on 3rd trip out and wouldn't reset. (Tip: the dealer describes these as a bit finicky... you have to force the breaker further in the off direction till it clicks, then it will reset) All the screw holes are not covered with screw caps, but stickers the same colour as the trim they're fixed in. These fall off easily and some areas they've used a white sticker on a wood finish surface. Some finishes that were discovered to be marked from pick up, are still waiting for replacement parts 3 months later. I am also sure that all the window locks have been fitted backwards as the chamfers are all on the wrong side. Can't lock the cabin door from the inside either. If you want to lock up for the night you have to go outside, lock with the key then get back in through the cab and press the door lock button. Hopefully shake down problems are all sorted now, just waiting for trip number 4 to see what else can annoy me. The layout is good though not a lot of space to prepare food. Love to say its a good van but still finding things a little bit wrong every time I look at it.

It comes down to, you get what you pay for.
I think that's a bit harsh, they paid for a van with the expectation that it would function correctly as it was sold by a dealer. It's got nothing to do with cost and quality when it comes to something as basic as a table fitting correctly to make the bed.

I disagree. Quality of build (making things fit together) is related to overall cost. The manufacturer will build to tight time schedules, poor training for fitters, poor quality control checks etc etc. all to meet a price point.

I talk from experience owning supposed mid level quality brand (Burstner) and finding lots of poor quality components and things badly fitted.

Weaselg46. Is this a new van? Wondering why you are doing all that work and not having it sorted under warranty, if only just got the van should also have some warranty if it was a used van.
@IRPH the first van we bought, new, was a budget entry van, all was well with it after a few years of using the rear lounge bed one of the wooden struts needed replacing, so in your eyes we got a lot more than we paid for. any vehicle, no matter what the price, should be of fit for purpose, think OP needs to get in touch with Dealer before he invalidates his warranty.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing .....I just think things should fit from the start when you buy anything or you should be told it doesn't fit at time of purchase.
