Revolut latest update! WOW

Another great benefit is the free transfers, and on the premium card free Turbo transfers. I did a stage payment of Euros I had been collecting on the card for a month or so drip feeding conversions when the rate was something like it. The Euros left Revolut at 10:10 in the morning, in the German dealers bank 11:50. Ideal for big transactions.

Just had this invitation email from Revolut to get a free metal card ... not going to do it as I'm not a blooming sales rep! o_O

Hey Mel,
Revolut is way better with friends. You can send and request money from each other for free, attach funny GIFs, split the bill at restaurants and, if you’re planning a cheeky holiday together, spend abroad with a great exchange rate.

But if we’re asking you to help us grow, then it’s only fair that you get something back. And so, if you invite 5 friends to join within the next 5 days and they verify their account and order their free Revolut card - we’ll give you a 12-month Metal subscription for free, including a brand new metal card.

Head to the More tab and tap on Invite to invite your friends via the Revolut app and give them a free Revolut card.

I've just checked thd conversion rates for Euro on both:

Revolute: 1.1460
EasyFX: 1.1506

I've just had a read-up about EasyFX and it has better 'cash withdrawal' terms than Revolut so I might look into it in more detail as the €200 cash withdrawal per month (ATMs abroad) is a bit low.

https://www.easyfx.com/card-fees
Check on EssyFX, I’ve used them before I seem to remember there was a fee which I was not aware of ?? (y)

I like the way you can use it for IBAN/Swift bank transfers in any currency, great for paying foreign firms

Just checked Revolut. €1.1710 to £1 at the moment. (y)
Yes ,I have friends looking to repatriate money to the UK. due to a bank error they had to come here to sort it out. It was 1,10 then Now every cent increase is losing them £1000:(That is normally my luck.

Ordered an EasyFX card as a back-up to my Revolut card after reading this thread and got it authenticated today. Compared rates with Revolut a few minutes ago and was surprised to find EasyFX offering only 1.15 whereas Revolut was 1.168 at the exact same time. I was hoping that they'd be more competitive, to be honest.

On this basis, Revolut will remain my go-to card for most expenditure and I'll just carry the EasyFX in case I need additional cash withdrawal capacity.

I put a £1000 on my Revolut account when it was 1.12 as it had jumped from 1.09. Glad I didn't put any more on it. Was going to build up our two accounts as we have an €8000 bill to pay at the end of next week. With the rate being fairly stable at the moment I will use my Metro Bank debit card to pay.

Good old cash. Bought euros off TravelFX on Friday at €1.169

I always wonder just where they make their profit which makes me wary. Perhaps it explains the money laundering reports

What year was that? Bet you wish you had stocked up.

Threw the Bank statements away years ago.

So many people dispute it.

Its here somewhere

Well, I ordered a Rovolut card which arrived here in France very quickly. So I transfered £10 to Euros at just over €1.17. Then today did my first purchase of €10 worth of diesel. But it didn't take the Euros it did an instant conversion at €1.15 to the pound. so I lose out. Is this how it works for purchases?

When you pay you have to select euro on the machine.

This was a purchase, pay at pump so no option. Charged in euros but the money was taken from the £ balance rather than the euros in the account. Or does it only take the euros if it is a cash withdrawal.

That's a worry.
Perhaps it's because it's a fuel purchase?
Like you I have just got a card specifically for Euroland.

Only paid fees for Camping-car Parks etc but they were taken from the Euro account on the card automatically, but this was an internet transaction.

They should investigate paypal for customers money laundering lol

Was it an at the pump purchase where you have to authorise the card first, if so you would not have sufficient € on the card so it authorised in £ and then took the payment in £, the machine didn't know you only wanted €10 worth of fuel.

We only use our card to get cash out however when we put £ on we always convert it all to €.

I use mine for fuel as well as meals, cable car rides, boat trips, tours etc etc.

Interesting replies re usage, use our Revolut card for most things, exceptions being fuel and campsite over the phone bookings (if deposit or payment required) for these I use a Halifax Clarity (credit) card. Our rough rule of thumb is above 10 Euro use the card below cash.

I use a Post Office credit card for fuel as I find some garages do not accept the Revolut card.
For everything else I use Revolut

Never found a garage in France that would even accept it. Then again due to the retention I only ever use a spanish card or cash.

Yes this is probably what happened ,although as above I've never found anywhere that will take a preloaded card. Even here the new 'Gasxpress' cheap fuel stations will not accept them.

One thing we found the other day as newish Revolut users is that the second currency account (ie euros) has to be ‘activated’ before you can draw from it. My wife had loaded up her new card and exchanged the majority of the money into euros. She had used the card successfully in shops to pay for groceries in euros without noticing that Revolut was exchanging the euro amount into pounds and debiting her remaining sterling balance. The moment of realisation came when we tried to obtain some cash from an ATM. The transaction was declined due to a lack of funds and an investigation showed that the euro account hadn’t been activated. As you switch the view from sterling to euros in the app, it slides the ‘switch’ over for you. After doing that, cash withdrawal was possible. With my account, I had obviously played around enough in the app to achieve this prior to using it, while she had just exchanged the money and assumed everything else would just work.

One of my complaints about revolut is it is difficult to find out how all the fancy stuff works unlike my fairfx card which is simple, buy euros and spend euros
