Hi, I have tried several products like Back to Black and others but none of them seem to last very long before looking dull again. I’m sure it’s been asked before but has anyone got a recommendation for a better product?

I just used Plasticote spray.Very forgiving to use. Nothing else lasts as you say

Try Baby oil ( no jokes!).
Once told to me by an experienced car valeter.
Apply liberally with cloth, then wipe off excess.
Use it on the black trim on our 2000 ci fiat ducato coach built.

I use this stuff from Auto Finesse and get on well with it.

unlike some “back to black” products, this one doesn’t make the plastics shiny, but retains the satin finish the the vehicle came with.

Just paid a bloody fortune for Croatian oil as a gift for our neighbour who waters the plants while we are away, but I know there’s Tesco Finest Extra Virgin in the cupboard so will try that as I’m sure it was a lot cheaper.

Sounds good. Lasts for weeks or months? Problem with most is they do only last for weeks.

I’d say lasts for months as opposed to weeks. I did mine around September last year, thinking about doing them again in the next few weeks.

however when I did mine the first time, they weren’t too badly deteriorated so perhaps if you are starting from a less good base they might need doing more frequently

Like most things it needs to be kept good. The more you apply these products the more of it is absorbed and the longer they last.

Polytrol. Used it on our black composite front door. Took our door from blackish grey back to shiny black, it’s overwintered and still looks just as good. It’s bit expensive but works. It does say you can use it on all sorts of plastics and colours.

I've never used it, but I've heard that if you go over it with a warm hair dryer it'll bring back the original shine, another one is peanut butter - the oil in it is supposed to be good for plastic.

In my experience, warm air treatment lasts for a few weeks maybe a month.

Peanut oil a bit less.

Olive or baby oil lasts a few weeks too.

None of the home remedies are long lasting.
