fiat ducato
hey guys , just got a fiat ducato van to turn in to a camper. my fisr job on the van was parking sensors and already ive ran in to my first problem. The sensor kit valeo park and beep which is new out of the box. ive drilled them in the bumper fed all the cables through etc and linked everything up as the manual says. connected in to the reverse light cable and the earth/ground cable off the lights and the beeper has no sound, I'm assuming the devide has power as the reverse lights are on.

Additionally my dash is telling me to check the reverse light and gives me a orange triangle warning light for it , although they are on, something isnt adding up here. they should work.

double checked all the connections, twice ! they are seem good to go. any advice would be handy

thanks

Your reverse lights may be on a canbus system as you get a dash warning.
If so it needs a canbus relay.
But....as the sensors don't work it may be faulty.
Instead of connecting to the reverse light wiring connect directly to the battery to test.
If it works then it will need the relay.

just google what that is, do you think ive i added that in they might work, would you not think that the sensors would work regarless even if the car thinks something is wrong? if i wired these in , would i put it before the sesnsor kit

as PapaJohn says disconnect the power and earth of the reversing beepers from the reversing lights and provide an independant power souce that will test the the reversing kit is not the problem,

That's why I suggested wiring directly to the battery as a test.

instead of connecting to the reversing lights and an earth, connect to an independant battery supply positive and earth.

that should then activate the sensors

lets say the sensors work, or if they dont and i need to replace them id still need to wire in a system relay would that go in before the sensor kit?

If you're still reading ......yes, disconnect the sensor wires from the reverse lights then connect to a 12v battery.
That means the sensors are permanently live so walking past the bumper should trigger the buzzer etc
If it doesn't they are faulty.
The canbus relay kits come with easy to follow instructions.
If you leave it without a relay the warning light will remain on and will fail the MOT, when it's due.

You could just run a length of cable through the van to the van battery as a test for the unit.
