Resealing roof windows

Hi, i have some Sikaflex 522 on oder as i am intending to give the roof a good wash and polish and then resealing all the openings. The acrylic openings are on hinges which makes it hard to run a sealant line along that edge. Do people take these off completely before sealing and then fit back ?

I have just resealed my roof lights on my Devon Aztec. I used Dicor self levelling sealer. It's what I used on my last 3 US RV's. Available from RV spares Gloucester, and Starspangled spanner, Lincoln. A good clean around the roof light, and on with Dicor S L. Dries in a couple of hours, and is flexible. It seals really well, no need to run your finger along to smooth it out, it just......well,....levels itself, and fills all the little crevices.
