Hi all,

Looking to replace my old x80 charger in my Moho system with a new victron ip22.

Wiring diagram here which from my investigations seems to be pretty un touched as far as modifications or butchering goes......

Can I just remove the charger below and replace like for like.....

That seems logical. Provided the current is the same. If you're jumping up to a higher power unit, the wiring might not be up to it.

Alternatively, you just disconnect the old charger and wire the Victron direct to the battery.

Should be good to go. 15A is not that much, and as you put it less than your current charger.

Is there anything that would mean the new charger wouldn't play nice with the older control panel with the switches and gauges on it?

I don't think so. Voltages should remain in the same ranges as before.

If you change to a lithium battery, you'll find any gauges that just work on voltage and think they're connected to a lead acid battery will just say the battery is full all the time. But everything should still work.

One of the things that confuses me about these panels in a motorhome...

I have a 3 way switch, one side is the leisure battery and one side is the vehicle battery, and the middle is neither.

Is this switch literally just showing me the voltage of each battery, or is it also changing the routing of all power? For example is my battery charger, charging the vehicle battery when it's switched to vehicle battery?

Do things like the pump still work when it's on the middle position? If so, it's just for switching the gauges between the sources.

If it switches everything off, then it is hab power source selection. My previous van (which was a post conversion rather than from a big manufacturer) worked that way. And then when the ignition was on, a relay just joined the batteries together.

The middle turns everything off when NOT on hookup, but if on hookup everything still works in the center position. It's a 99 bessacar motorhome.

That makes sense. The mains charger is connected on the 'load' side along with everything else. So even when a battery isn't selected, there's still 12v coming from the mains charger. It also suggests that the selector has to be up or down (not middle) to charge the selected battery when you're plugged in.
