We decided to take the table out of ours, a huge heavy thing which took up too much room. I think the problem is the designer wanted a table which could convert to a single berth bed behind the driving seats.
We just purchased a 28 inch high folding table. When travelling, folded, it fits under the fixed bed without a problem. At night simply folded and placed in front of the swivelled passenger seat.
The space, freed up, is where the dog’s bed goes at night.
Works for us but there is only two of us.

Not on a 670SC but we did change the table on our Compact SC.
The original table was quite large and had a pull out extension which made it very heavy.
We replaced it with a much smaller/lighter table.
It is still big enough for two people, is much lighter and improved the access between the two front seats.

Mine has a huge table, which is great. But I'd pay to change it for a folding top if I could find one.

I’ve no knowledge of your vehicle model but would just like to throw into the mix The Lagun swivel table system.

Its a dog leg table that doesn’t rely upon a post in the middle of the aisle and can be moved to many positions.

As I said, it might not suit you, but others may benefit.

Ours is a solid top but in the vid below the table is folding.

Have you a local timber merchants? If so have a look at their worktop off cuts and get them to cut you out a table to the size you want, the edges are easily covered with matching veneer I would show you a picture but it went when we sold the van! Total cost was around £20

Yes, we did it on our 670sl. What I did was dismantled the existing table and used ithe top as a template (reducing the length to the desired amount). First cut was slightly oversized with a jigsaw before making a final finish with a router using a profile bit. Our table had the small pull out section on the end too. I cut a matching piece for that using the same method before reassembling it using the existing mechanism and leg. The result gave us much more space to manoeuvre. The hardest part was getting a de ent edge band for it. If I was doing it again, I would be tempted to use a good quality faced plywood and finish the edge by sanding and sealing.
