Hi everyone- complete newbie here.

Looking for advice on -
1) best 4 birth camper that will be used also as daily vehicle
2) if im going to consider leasing it out, whats the oldest/highest mileage I could get away with?

I love Transporters because they drive like a car and seem to be a popular choice for potential hirers.

Initially i was set on second hand and just for personal use, but then i started thinking of it as an investment.

Im stuck pondering a million things and dont know where to start!

Thanks

I wouldn’t consider it an investment as you are unlikely to make any money when you factor in all the costs, damage and depreciation. There are websites that list motorhomes for hire where you pay them a commission. Best of luck!

It's discussed on here from time to time, quite a few funsters have done it and most regret it, some horror stories too. If you use the search facility some threads will probably come up 🫣

I think that how you set it all up when purchasing is the key, as if it's set up as a business, there may be more tax advantages. BUT that is me making assumptions not actually offering accurate advice.

Rent one yourself first and see if you do enjoy it and what’s best for you, there are ongoing costs of ownership. With regards to renting as others say you don’t know how people will treat it. My next door neighbour rented their house and the place was wrecked, the people renting it seemed reasonable enough but you never know what goes on behind closed doors.

So if it’s for your self rent and find what’s best for you if your renting be prepared for big repair bills or even scrapping.

If youare going to use it as a daily vehicle what will you use for transport if it were rented out for weeks?

Have you looked at insurance costs for rental?
