We bought our first motorhome earlier this year and have been really enjoying it.
It is a 2006 Adria Izola on a Renault Master with low mileage, bags of space and we love it.
However, we just thought we should check weigh it and we got a big surprise! The maximum gvw is 3500kgs, but we have about 3900 with us in it. Whilst we can definitely make some reductions in the payload, it will be impossible to get down below 3500 without taking all the enjoyment out too!
Has anyone had experience of up-plating these vehicles, or any advice in general please?

Here's a photo of the VIN plate, which might help.

As well as the overall weight, I'd expect that you're also over the rear axle limit.

To uprate, you need to speak with SvTech or VanWeightEngineering. They will tell you what you can do.

You'll also need C1 on your driving licence. If you're over 70, that also means a medical.

I think you will struggle with a master, I don't know but I think it involves higher rated rear springs not just a paper excerise

Do you have a C1 driving licence ?
As without it, you can not legally drive a vehicle over 3500 kg

If not you will need to take the test to upgrade it.
You may as well get C1/D1(E) at the same time, as it then permits you to tow as well.
FYI - Cost of lessons and test will have a comma in the price ....

I've filled in SVTech's on-line enquiry form and am waiting for their response.

If you complete and forward the online enquiry form at Van Weight Engineering they will be able to advise if possible and what alterations might need to be made. If you want to proceed then it’s £276 all in for the weight increase pack, which includes the new VIN plate.

Of no relevance to your situation but I’m just going through the process with our Adria Fiat base - 3650kg to 4250kg - and it’s all gone very smoothly so far.
