3off Front ball joints were mentioned as advisories on recent MOT, Garage quoted over £700 to replace all of them which seemed a little steep. Has anyone had ball joints replaced and at what cost? Dethleff Esprit on Renault Master dci150 2006.

The ball joints are a press fit in the arms. I suspect the quote is for removing the arms and pressing the joints in and out. There is a tool available that can be used to remove the joints in situ, around £125 on ebay, note there are upper and lower and if you are doing both upper/lower tools. I hired one but no longer available. This was on a friends builders van with solid concreate bed floor and done at the side of the road. Took about an hour each side and needed a bit of welly to get it moving should have doused in releasing fluid the day before! Best of luck, if you get a garage to do it you can factor out the £125 tool cost against their quote.

I looked on e bay 2 ball joints approx £20;00 the pair, theres a starting point.

I had 2 Lower ball joints replaced on 2007 Renault Master last year £298.61 including VAT £48.84 parts £200.00 labour £49.77 VAT

Many thanks I will be getting a couple of quotes from other garages and a full explanation of what this quote covers etc. There’s no rush to get them done as only advisory on MOT
Safe travels
