That's all well and good until the ureter goes into spasm after the stent is removed. Which can occasionally happen. Then its absolute hell !!!! I've had nine or ten stents, and it's happened once. Luckily it was in hospital and the appropriate pain relief was available.
When we saw the original vlog of how the Scots NHS had lied to him telling him they'd removed his kidney stone so that ever since his GP has been blaming his symptoms on a too fertile imagination, and eventually got so fed up of the constant pain, decided to invest some thousand £££££ in a private MRI scan and operation if necessary - which proved without doubt that the original (8mm) kidney stone was still in situ, so he had it removed - and the long cannula is standard after such surgery, but normally, back to hospital for removal. However because they live a a 5 hr drive from the private hospital in Edinburgh where he had all this done, they pre-arranged for him to remove the cannula himself, which he successfully did. My dad had some 'spots' in his bladder removed decades ago when an ordinary urinary catheter was in situ when he came round from the anaesthetic which he had removed some days later. OOOH - said I, how was that then? He said, Well, I think it only took about 10 seconds - then laughed and added, But it was the worst 10 seconds of my life in my imagination beforehand!
And I think that's usually that, with such things.
At the outset, I thought of Helen (Puddleduck ) since the majority of us in England take 'nearby' NHS expertise for granted, whereas they aren't for her, plus I immediately thought 'Sue the A-Hole, Colin!' - so we'll see if he does, Or What.
