Getting there!
We have no need for the Status Vision Plus 530 installed in our van, as no telly.

Anyone taken one out and replaced it with an iBoost or similar please?

I see Motorhome wifi sell an iBoost on a status pole, but I already have the Status and iBoost, just wondering how complicated it might be to build my own. I don't want to take the tv aerial out, take it apart and find myself with just a hole in my roof, and some dismantled bits n bobs!

As always, any help/guidance gratefully received.

@andy63 did it too. I’m waiting on him doing mine when we both find time. :D2

Thank you, useful write up.

Looks like I don't need to try and reuse the Status pole, so can pre build a replacement, then 'just' swap them out.

Cheers

Hi Andy,

I would advise that the iBoost Directional Antenna is not sufficiently weatherproof (and perhaps not particularly aerodynamic!) to be left outside while in motion. It was this reason why we developed the iBoost Connect as a product we could sell and most importantly guarantee - however, all that design, tooling and sealing tests came at a cost.

Many customers have made homebrew solutions using the Status antenna over the years, one included keeping the whole status and mounting the antenna on the 'top' (cutting away the pole mount) meaning it could be laid flat and raised when stationary. If you can do your best to seal up your panel, you might extend its life. It's not going to look pretty.

iBoost systems do sell for good money second hand and so don't discount selling the system you have to put towards a Connect.

I wish you luck!

Adam

Thank you Adam!
I am going to try a home brew solution first, but know I have the option of your bespoke offering in the future.

Cheers
Andy
