Has anyone used an auto diagnostic/electrician to remap the ecu and delete the immobiliser on a 2003 FIAT DUCATO 14 2.8JTD. The Black Verde type ECU located next to fuel filter on right hand side of engine block. Many thanks keith

You could try www.vantuner.co.uk who do immobiliser delete service for some Iveco vans and may be able to help.
Thank you I have it booked in Monday at a Tune/mapping company in Banbury which is local to me. I'll update on here how I get on fingers crossed this works and eliminates this issue that so many people have suffered with.

What’s the issue with the immobiliser. I have a 52plate Ducato and I think the standard immobiliser is a Cobra3195. Certainly is in mine.

The ignition key is only read/recognised intermittently, causing frequent moments where by can't start it. Random number of key turns and eventually it will be read correctly and start. I've already changed the yellow immobiliser unit, but that didn't change anything. It's probably an issue with the reciever in the ECU. I can't source any parts I.e ecu, immobiliser and keys to replace mine with, so this is the next best option. Hopefully 🤞

You should check with your insurance company about that before you take action. I suspect that they will either cancel the theft part of the insurance, or refuse to insure you.
If you have a tracker that can immobilise a stolen vehicle (we do) obviously it would not be able to immobilise it if stolen.

Depends how the tracker is wired in, it should immobilise a separate circuit to the key immobilisation part

I just need to declare an ECU remap and immobiliser delete. This may effect my premium (Ins company dependent) but is perfectly legal.

An option after this work is done is to install a Thatcham Cat 1 or Cat 2 alarm/immobiliser to offset premium change and security.

How are they going to know they won’t put it on a dyno or know how to read the flash file

Also was wondering if you know where the OBD connector is located on a 52 (2003) fiat ducato 14 2.8 jtd?

On a 52 plate 1.9 it’s under a cover low down on the dash I think.

Hi, yeah interesting outcome. What I thought was the ECU, the guy said was a glow plug unit (next to fuel filter) and couldn't locate an ecu after stripping out plastics in cab and going over engine bay. So he couldn't re mapp it, but he bypassed the immobiliser by cutting all three wires from immobiliser at the the fuel pump solenoid. He then removed the tamper proof box around the circuit and took the circuit board out.

From the cut wires, he took the ignition wire and re soldered that to a wire stub on the face of the fuel pump. He then re connected the existing plugs to get the feed back up to ignition. He then just used a glue gun to stabilise the soulder from vibration and to water proof it.
Job done. Now starts first time every time. No more immobiliser key symbol and no longer cuts out of power from the fuel pump shutting off.

3- 4 hours work and only charged me 225. So very happy with the result.
