Refilling LPG at Sainsburys............

Having recently had an Alugas cylinder fitted by the top chaps at Autogas 2000 in Thirsk we went on holiday for 5 weeks to France and happily filled up when we ran out - no problem.

Went to my local Sainburys (Cobham in Surrey) petrol station to fill up the gas bottle today to find out that the attendant would not allow us to fill up because we had use an 'adaptor'. We have the smaller LPG filler fitting, located externally which needs to have the the adaptor screwed in to accept the LPG gun. In France we used the 'dished' one with no problem but according to the sticker on the side of the pump Sainsbuys do not allow the use of adaptors.

To be fair he spotted me fumbling about screwing the adaptor on - had I done this out of his view he would have been none the wiser and I suspect I would have got away with it! Anyone else had this issue?

Ignorant attendant I assume. The adapters referred to are probably those dangerous ones sold on ebay to refill non refillable bottles. Suggest you contact the management to point out a training need.

It’ll be about people filling ordinary bottles with the adapter that is available on eBay and other places. Dangerous practice with no 80% stop.
Just make sure the adapter is screwed in before you get there next time.

If you can find an independent LPG specialist supplier on your travels, they are usually very helpful.

W are lucky in that we have 3 nearby, one is 1/2 mile away. Very happy to show you how to fill anything.

We fill SafeFill cylinders for our caravan, motorhome re-fillsbles and a car. Very easy, cheap and helpful.

That said, I hate the UK connector and often phummble after 20 years

Help-In Spain need a uk to Spanish lpg adaptor

Help- near Malaga anyone know where we can get a Uk to Spanish adaptor for our gaslow or know anyone who can fill it for us please. Nice and sunny during the day here But cold at night especially in the hills!!

This week Dacia have stopped selling dual fuel petrol/LPG cars in the UK because of poor LPG availability.

Sainsbury at Cobham are stopping selling LPG from 1st Aug 2022 but didn't have any yesterday so I doubt they will be getting a refill now.

It was only a year or two ago they started selling them in the UK.

It is the same at all Sainsbury. I used to ignore it as being Spanish, an adaptor has yo be used.

No ,I was informed by Sainsbury that they had had someone snap an adaptor of and it was stuck in the gun.

I tried Sainsbury Cobham a few weeks back, they didn’t have LPG for sale,looks like another source crossed off.

I've just filled up at the Shell garage at Addlestone, this is not far from the M25 if your passing that way, currently 0.72.9 ltr be aware that at the moment only the left hand pump is working and the chap told me the right hand pump is constantly falling so depending what side your filler is you may have to come from the other side. He also said they sell a lot of lpg so hopefully they won't be stopping it any time soon.
