In response to a recent thread I would like to share some of our thoughts on the use of a filter on the filler point .
We are aware that on occasion the NRV (non return valve) can stay open on rare occasions both the filler point and the tank / cylinder NRV can stick open leading to a discharge of liquid state LPG after removal of the filling gun .
Whilst a filter may initially appear to be a good solution please bear in mind these caveats.
In our experience most of these discharge events occur when the filler cap has been missing, whether that be for a short period or for an extended duration, any dirt in the valve is a potential problem , it would be pointless using a filter in these circumstances.
The other more concerning issue is that adding a filter would necessitate the need for an additional adapter, this obviously significantly increases the amount of liquid state LPG that is discharged when disconnecting the filler gun, there are permitted volumes but adding to the discharge volume isn’t something that we would encourage.
