Hi everyone, I have recently purchased my motorhome and find that it is quite dark. I want to lighten my units and not sure what paint would be best to use. Has anyone repainted their units and if so what type of paint did you use. Thank you for any suggestions.

Try proper kitchen cupboard paint.
You can put it on with minimal prep.....usually just sugar soap is enough and can be put on with a mini roller.

Hi, I’d use something with a satin finish like those in the link below. I don’t know if you like Farrow and Ball colours - if you do and don’t want to pay their prices you can get the same colours mixed in B&Q using their Valspar paint.

If you decide to do vinyl instead these threads might help:

Thank you for this, I had not thought about wrapping. Looking at some of those links, it's looks like it could be a better finish.

Vinyl wrapping isn’t suitable for doors with a profile like yours

Instead I’d opt for an eggshell paint, having first given the doors a good clean to remove any surface grease

this paint is good. Minimal prep work required and great finish.

Management has been wanting to paint the varnished wood fire surround in our sitting room. She found some furniture paint in B&Q. It’s called Rustolium . I thought it was for metal like Hamerite.
It went on really well and has transformed the fire surround .
Not sure about motorhome cabinets but it might be worth a look.

I did ours a little while ago https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...-a-couple-of-little-jobs.228200/#post-4115382 From experience use a really good undercoat, ideally a shellac one, I used https://www.decoratingdirect.co.uk/...ET_EDGE_BLOCK_AND_BOND_PRIMER_SEALER_ZAPS_ST/ which I found has a longer working time then other shellac primers/undercoats I've used. Paint choice doesn't really matter if you are going to put a sealer on top. I used Valspar V700 paint from B&Q, so huge range of colours then applied a few coats of a satin polyurethane sealer on top. I used this one, not exactly cheap but is probably one of the best sealers I have ever used. https://www.goldleafsupplies.co.uk/high-performance-top-coat-satin-946ml-3035/

I would make sure you really want to paint them before you start and think about if you would want change your van, would somebody want to buy one with painted cabinet work, I wouldn’t.

we used Annie Sloan chalk pain for the wood surrounds & the inserts done with patterned tissue paper using diluted wood glue. (PVA) Craft glue is similar being a pva but not as strong but perfect for the paper

This is rustolems version of "chalk paint" & a bit cheaper
