On the Ford transit positive terminal in engine bay a single red cable has burnt out twice. Does anyone know what it controls please

After a second look I don't think it should even be there.
The crimp lug isn't even under the securing nut.... Just slipped on the threaded post/bolt.

The fixing shown in the photo is the fix that was done recently. They cut the wire back to a good section and joined it. Then the replacement cable did exactly the same

What doesn't work when it is disconnected? Fridge maybe... Split charge?

Hi, it was attached properly and when replaced was bolted, I have disconnected it as with a burnt out cable it serves no purpose. I just tested it in place to take the picture.

When you say “they” who do mean, a garage?

Anybody with any knowledge would look for the issue in a burnt circuit before replacing any wiring, something “they” obviously did not do.

As mentioned by others, it needs tracing to find out what it is powering, it does look aftermarket.

And it needs a fuse.
If it had one initially it wouldn't be in that state now.
