Coming towards the end of our tour, and having been worn out catching up with our daughter in Garda, we're popping down to Lucca on Wednesday to catch the Mille Miglia, then have 2 unplanned weeks free - the original plan was como but we went there before Garda thanks to Springsteen cancelling his Milan gig.

Getting sick of the sticky heat on the lakes, we're thinking of the coast of the Italian Lakes or Tuscany region, and happy enough to pay for a really nice site.

I've just been looking at Camping Albatros south of San Vincenzo, but it's not right on the beach.

All suggestions gratefully received 👍

Haven't got that far yet, left Garda on Wednesday straight down to Lucca, left yesterday to Tuscany and currently on a sosta, which is actually quite pleasant, in Greve.
May explore here today and drop down to Siena for tomorrow, then we may make it to the coast 🤣

That’s the best way to travel, unplanned and in no hurry, but with a general direction in mind. Love it 😎

Still haven't got to the coast yet, the campsite we found for visiting Siena is lovely, and the sun is shining so spending another night here.
And, at night time Siena Cathedral - Duomo di Siena is illuminated and we can see it from our pitch.

Camping Colleverde

Not cheap, €42 per night for 2, but we're enjoying the relaxing time, showers and facilities are clean, good swimming pool which we're relaxing around today, bus stops outside into Siena and unlike some, they are relatively on time and run late into the evening.

Where did you stay at Lucca?
Do you really want to know?

It's a sosta, thought the back of a working garage, but, the owner is a star, he's squeezed us in twice now, there's a toilet and shower attached to the garage that are old but clean and tidy, clean water, waste water, toilet dump, ehu, a key to the back gate and an easy walk into the city walls, and best of all, when you come back late at night and it's dark, there's Fireflies in the garden out back - we'd never seen them before and it was amazing!

We loved it, but the brits there last week weren't impressed at all.

€20 per night

We left Siena yesterday morning, had a slow drive down Montepulciano which was a very nice town, stayed in the carpark at the bottom as the sosta area has a market on Thursday mornings, then came further down for breakfast at Lake Trasimeno and onwards to Camping Assisi - think this is as far south as we're going to come as it's getting to hot and humid for me now, especially for using sostas without showers!
