I'm a newbie
Hi everyone. I was driving along the A12 in our Marquis 285 (Peugeot/Boxer) and hit a pothole that triggered the airbag warning system and 'check handbook' warning. Coincidentally, it was due in to local Protyres for new tyres so they ran a diagnostics check that came up with 'internal ecu error'. They don't deal with electrics and were unable to help but suggested Roy Tolley - local Peugeot dealer - but they have stopped servicing commercials. It seems very hard to find someone to help so I wondered if any members in the Colchester/Ipswich/Chelmsford area could suggest any garage that might be able to help? TIA

Try T&J commercials just outside Lowestoft. Top class guys who service my Peugeot and have recently replaced a damaged gearbox and clutch. They are very good indeed but I don’t know if they do electrical issues, worth a try. Give them a call, if they can’t help they will know someone who can.

Thanks for these suggestions guys. After talking to Marquis they told me that Desira supply all those parts so it’s booked in with a new sensor ordered. But at £150 per hour labour I’ll certainly be looking elsewhere for routine maintenance.

Sorry, hadn't realised it's under warranty. Salmons Weeley branch do in warranty work on Fiat and are excellent. Not sure if they do the Peugeot, but might be worth a call.

No, it’s not being done under warranty as the airbag system isn’t covered. Looking at the threads it seems a common Peugeot/Fiat/Ducato problem. The ecu in our van is a Fiat part. So I’ll keep in mind your recommendation.

Just a last update: van booked in to Desira, Bury St Edmunds (son lives in nearby Stanton so overnighted there) at 8.30 this morning for diagnostics and fitting new airbag ecu if needed. Incidentally, James in the parts department told me that there were 12 different ecus listed for the Peugeot/Boxer, so part number of old ecu essential. Rang at 12.20pm to say van was ready. When service guy was going through the bill he told me that Fiat had instructed all dealers to install an extra earth lead to ecu, but unsure why - maybe to stop future failure? Anyway, new ecu came in at £320 + £70 fitting and programming said ecu (also comes with 2 year guarantee against failure. Drove away poorer but happy to be covered for next 2 years.
