Recommendations please for small motorbike/moped for 2 "older" adults (1 Viewer)

Age has caught up with our cycle riding so we've sold the e-bikes and bike rack.

Now looking for another mode of transport that can be carried on the back of our motorhome. I can fit a Linnepe "Porto" carrier onto my tow bar frame and this takes up to a 150kg motorbike/moped. Prefer an electric machine but petrol is also OK. Must seat two 70 year olds and yes, I've ridden motorbikes/scooters many years ago. We did our courting on a Lambretta TV 175. Any recommendations?

I think you are hard pushed to beat a Honda Vision. Simple design, won’t break any speed limits but happily chugs along with two on board. Reliable and should last forever. Relatively cheap too.

You need to have a motorcycle licence to carry a passenger, unless you're thinking about a 50cc.

If your licence is OK have a look at these bikes:

An e-bike works for my 92 year old mother-in-law for her daily rides (but she lives in NL so less likely to be flattened by a car).

Hi we are both 65/66 respectively and we use a Honda sh125 twist and go, It carries us both me being 90kg and the other half 60 kg up and down the hills in France quite comfortably.

I have no experience, but if electric is your thing, another person on the forum has/had one of these and rates them. The battery can be removed and stored separately from main chassis to aid weight distribution/security/charging etc…

We have Honda Vision. Use a top box on back for shopping and Mrs Stoosal to lean back on for a bit of secure feeling while travelling along. One helmet under seat and other in box. We tend to stick to smaller roads for tootling about as it’s never going to break any speed records. Two up it will pootle along at 50mph all day, no probs but, as soon as a hill comes along speeds will drop. Nice wide comfortable seat. Does about 100 miles to a tank of fuel. Nippy about town. Easy to ride (twist and go). No kick start.

We have the Address which easily supports 22 + stone between us and go 60MPH.
With the extra 50kgs available to you over us, I d be tempted to go a tad bigger and see if any "Executive Scooters" go that low in weight. I have a 300 Forza as well and comfort is lovely.
If you do go for the classic scooter get a double top box on the back as it makes it look so much bigger from behind

What capacity have you got on your rear axle? Will it be sufficient for the weight of the rack and scooter?

Another thumbs up for the Honda SH125, lovely bike, carries 2 adults, tis automatic, takes 2 helmets, one under the seat and the other in the top box. It can also have the screen fitted and comes in a few colours, with the legendary Honda reliability.

We rode a Honda vision 110cc for 7 years, put about 5000 miles on it mainly round Benidorm.
They are only 8bhp and for pure efficiency of getting you from A to B with shopping they certainly score 10/10. No worries about leaving it in a scooter park in town, it's just invisible mingling in with the locals bikes. No worries about theft off the van either, it's just a plain old petrol scooter.

What used to annoy me was it's totally gutless off from the lights so filtering can be annoying for the car drivers getting stuck behind you when the lights goto green. I think if I was buying again I'd be seriously looking at the SH125 mode (12bhp)

Good point. I'd have to check. Previously we had 2 ebikes and a tow ball mounted carrier probably 75kgs total. Our Adria has rear air suspension so assume it'll take the weight.
