Hi

For the first time this year we tried booking in Spain - through the CAMC and tested two weeks at Villanova Park. All a bit of a disaster as we have two dogs, we understood there would be access to a beach for dog walks which turned out to be 3 mile hike and not much for the dogs to do on the site. Gave up after. a week and have spent the last three weeks in France and this weekend in Bruges before heading home on Monday

So, need to sort this next year - looking for recommendations Alicante or further South for 4 to 6 weeks December January time with somewhere our dogs can really RUN!! Pus we can get some better weather. Ideally I would like to book very soon and get it all in the diary.

Thoughts please!!

Camping Mar Menor which is actually sited with a gate from the campsite to the dog friendly beach.
We are there now. Don’t have a dog but plenty here. The CMC are running a rally here now.

We had very differing views from people about the site.

“Shanty town. Drove in and drove out. Marmite place.”

So we were a bit apprehensive but really liked the place. Yes, there are a lot of crowded self-build shacks but we have quite enjoyed seeing them. Plenty of ordinary touring pitches. Good supermarket and bar/ restaurant.

Facilities are a little dated but adequate. Loads of Brits, Germans, Swedes, Belgians, Dutch overwintering. All very friendly.

Lovely walks along the beaches to bars, restaurants and er…….bars and restaurants🤣

Edit, and a good bus service outside to Cartagena and La Manga areas.

Just checked availability and larger pitches (we have 9m motorhome) and font line already booked out on multiple dates December and January

Maybe ring them.? Are CMC doing anything next tear?

I bet they can get you in somewhere. There are some enormous rigs here.

Otherwise Alannia in Catral. Not on the coast but dog friendly and 1200 pitches.

Just checked Alannia - also no availability - so busy looks like you need someone to die in order to access a long term pitch in winter

I would suggest a call. We were there last couple of weeks. Plenty of space. Maybe there are not releasing pitches to internet bookings.

BTW, Allania have two sites in that area. Guardamar which may well get busy, and Costa Blanca which is inland a bit. They charge 0.40c a unit for electric. La Manga is included.

I think that should perhaps be Costa Blanca?

Ditto as David and Sally. We are just up from them. This is our 4th year here. Plenty to do which is either organised by the CAMC Hosts, rallies or the site owners. Thankfully there are some quite days to relax.

The site is not in a built up area with plenty agricultural roads to walk and cycle along. Also there is a huge nature reserve El Fondo about 3km away.

Are Carpmart and David and Sally talking about the same site?

No, I think you are right. He is at Los Alcazares, we are at Camping La Manga also on the Mar Menor, Just next to Playa Honda. I think I confused you all👍🙂 sorry

But still very dog friendly and a gate straight onto the beach..

Used to spend 6 months at La Manga and enjoyed the Camping Club rallys as they were a few years ago but you forgot to mention that the gate to the beach is half a mile away at the other end of the site. 😀

A mere gentle wander 👍 good for walking a dog….if we had one. Maybe we should borrow one🤣
And there is a bar at the end so I do speed up a bit nearer the gate🤣🤣🍷🍷

If you are prepared to go to the far south you will not beat Camping La Bella Vista. We've been going back there for years - but you have to book early. Dog walk options are brilliant. And the local restaurants and port are fab - with very good prices. We are there now and loving it.

I’m a little confused by David and Sally post as I’m pretty sure they are not talking about Campibg Mar Menor..

Who have you called, Camping Mar Menor or somewhere else?

I’m a 9m RS like you and fit on the standard pitches.. Frontline pitches are not the best as you’ve got a strong breeze most afternoons.

TBH, from what I’ve heard, there are very few pitches available for 24/25 winter now…

See #15. I have indeed confused two sites. Apols.

I think you will find dogs are not allowed on the beach adjacent to the Mirador, neither are they allowed on the terrace area.

People were running dogs on the beach last couple of weeks here. (La Manga) . Can’t comment on the terrace but will take a look today.

Just to point out that dogs are not allowed on buses in Spain, as the OP has dogs. Fine if you don't mind leaving dogs in a MH but some, like us, would never leave them :)

Good point. In that case you would need transport if here for any amount of time. There are only so many times you can walk left or right out of the gates.😀
