Hi All you intelligent MH’ers, Now the creeping is out of the way here comes the question.

Looking for tyres for my MH 225/75 R16 and found these, what do you guys and gals think of these

https://www.atseuromaster.co.uk/con...t225-75sr16bfga-tko2lrd-rwlg-uk-3528703707493

and any tyre recommends are most welcome. I will be using these all through the year I can’t change my tyres for winter tyres like some do so I’m looking for four season tyres and also tyres which are ok for use on the continent mainly France, Spain and Italy.
Not expecting much response tonight except from insomniacs .

Many Thanks Tony

Hi, we have always had Michelin Aguilis camping tyres but have not been pleased with
them the last couple of times, this time we changed a bought Hi Fly tyres after being recommended by another funster, we have had them a few months and are very pleased with them, they look better, give a quieter ride and perform well added bonus they were half the price of the Mitchein, ordered them off the internet they came from Holland were tracked to a garage of our choice for fitting. And cost approx £50 each plus fitting.

Now using Hankook mud and snow tyres after previously using Continental Vanco Fourseasons 2 tyres, didn't have a problem with the Continentals other than I couldn't find any that weren't more than three years old in the UK! They are Korean but I believe they are factory fitted by BMW and VW on some of their cars and they are a lot cheaper than Continentals. I wanted M&S tyres for touring abroad during the winter months in countries where they are compulsory

You left out the most important bit which is the load index. They look like only for very light vans at 115, in fact they look more like Discovery tyres. What load index do you need? I use Continental Vanco 4 seasons but then camper tyres are not available in my size anyway.

I was informed by Michelin when I contacted there head office here in France that in Italy your camping car/Motor home must have camping car rated tires which have to have CP on them which limits you to either Michelin Continental or Pirelli. At the time when I did a bit of research the only ones I could find which had M&S rating were the Michelin Agilus camping. But they don't have the snow flake rating on them. I think it is in 2019 or 2020 in order to qualify for the winter rating they must have the snow flake rating on them. At the moment there is no standard for M&S rated tires so any one can claim they are M&S. Michelin have a Van cross over tire coming out in July, but that is not CP rated so does not comply with Italian regulations. I did a thread on here a few months back on it.If you stay out of Italy you should be fine with Van tires providing they they are weight rated for your MH. Basically there isn't a all seasons MH rated tire, its all a bit of a compromise.

Below is a thread I did some time ago.

Now they have updated the laws on winter tyres most places that make them compulsory will need 3pmsf (three peak mountain snowflake) M+S do not comply. This applies to recently fitted tyres as older M+S will be allowed for a while.

Hi,

You need C Van tyres. Those you linked are car/SUV Tyres.

Personally, I would fit Michelin Alpin Winter tyres. I run my Van, Minibus and motorhome on them all-year.

Second choice as I have recommended elsewhere, Toyo H09.

Otherwise, you are looking at Vanco 4Season or similar.

This is a BFG AT KO2 not the one in the ATS link . They are a very good long life tyre BUT they are aimed at the SUV market ,
the highest Load index they do in your size is 118 .

The link you posted only shows a generic image when you look on the BF site you will see they are big knobby tyres for off roading in 4 x 4's. The road road noise leves would be horrendous also as already pointed out they are only M&S, Germany for one require Alpine rated tyres for winter use. I would go with Continental be careful though they do a 4 Season & a Four Season, one is Alpine rated the other only M&S.

Vancontact 4 season are alpine and none in stock atm even at continental or so I was told. Only place had them in stock was My tyres online.

Vanco Four season do not have alpine I recently got some of these fitted with a date if 51 17 and 1 18 so less than 6 months old which I was happy with.

So are you telling me I can't go to Italy because there are no camping tyres in my size?

Just got 4 Vanco 225/75 R16, made 3/18, fitted by a Kwikfit mobile for £480. Most happy with the tyre and service.

I've gone with these General tyres, all season & snowflake:

https://www.generaltire-tyres.com/car/tyres/eurovan-as365?season=summer&cartype=suv

So far really pleased - only done 2000 miles so far - time will tell.

£100 per corner fitted

Well worth comparing the EU Tyre Label for tyres you are considering (it varies with size, so make sure you compare like for like) this gives information on Wet Grip, Fuel Economy & Rolling noise

As others have said, make sure the load rating is correct for your van

Thanks for that, I only had the tyres fitted in July so they will have to do! Looks like it will be back to Continentals next time around...

Providing the tyres were manufactured before the 1st Jan 2018 M&S rating is acceptable in Germany until 31st Oct 2024. If the tyres are manufactured after the 1st Jan 2018 for winter use in Germany they need to be Alpine rated.

Hi @Brakers
Tony
I think they are just normal ones. Unfortunately the van is a few miles away in storage so can't check today.

We’re on these and so far they are great, they have a max pressure of 75psi only 5psi less than campers, though we’re running at 53 front and 63 back with a very comfortable ride. 3 peak alpine thingy and snowflake.
As previously said FourSeason and 4Season are different tyres.
We only paid £115 per tyre, fitted at our local Savoy Tyres.

if you are using Kwik Fit, order on line, much cheaper than just popping in.
We paid £109 on line rather than £154, price quoted at the fitting station, about 18 months ago when we had 215/70 15’s.
This time I printed off the ‘mytyres’ quote and took to my local fitters to see if they’d price match.

Looks like Germany is off the winter visit list then, I'll have to check the DOT on the tyres but I think they were only three months old when they were fitted..

Edit: my memory is proving as reliable as ever, the DOT shows the tyres as July 2017 which is when I got them fitted last year...losing it, need more wine

We were running on normal continental vanco’s they wore really well and still had loads of tread after 45,000 miles. They don’t do camper tyres for our size.

This time I went for maxxis all season tyres with 3 peaks markings! They were half the price and similar spec! But running them they are not as economical mpg is down slightly! Other than that they are great! Managed well on the snow and ice in the alps!
