Rear view/reversing camera lens covers

Anyone know if the lens covers of the standard twin rear camera can be removed for cleaning/replacing.

The camera view on my head unit has always been very murky. I'm just wondering if this is due to yellowing of the lens covers. They look pretty poor to me.

Obviously no such thing as "standard twin rear camera" This is mine. If you ignore the rain drops you can see they look quite yellow

Looking for answers. Maybe they need cataract surgery. My eyes used to be like that.

Looks like the plastic has discoloured try a headlamp repair kit on them.

If it's yellowing, then the lens will likely be plastic.
Give the lens a good going over with some Fenwicks Windowize or if that is a bit to mild, then T-Cut and then Fenwicks Windowize.

I'll try some body polishing stuff that I have but I suspect that the yellow may be right through.
Anyone know how to get these covers off, or what brand the might be. There are replacement covers on line fioor various makes although I haven't yet seen any as curved as these ones.

Looking at picture id guess the bezel might rotate but fear that will make the lens free to drop back inside.
Most plastic car headlight cases that go yellow do so from the iutside only.
Id try good polish first or some people have used toothepaste then windowize to take out any scratches.

I've just replaced my electric toothbrush and kept the old one for any small cleaning jobs. Looks like we have a match.

Well the toothbrush and toothpaste nor the 3m finesse paste made any difference.
The camera under the van for the waste is crystal clear. The downward pointing reversing cam is OK is. The rearward pointing camera is yellowed with a murky picture so I assume it's sun damage to the lens cover.
Looks like I'll have to remove the wardrobe back panel and take out the camera unit. Probably not worth it unless I have a known solution.

After much (too much) polishing with a variety of mediums I have found the solution. The camera needs a cowl.

Placing a temporary sun shade above the camera gives a near perfect picture. I just need to find something that will do the job.

I probably just need a flat plate to stick onto the top of the camera housing.

Had another go at polishing the lens cover as it looks opaque compared to the one pointing down. My theory is that the plastic has become opaque so not food in poor light but worse in sunlight as the opaqueness scatters the sunlight and blows out the picture.
Still opaque and haven't yet found anything to use as a lens hood.

I have just found your 2019 post after spending far too many hours and £s trying to polish my upper lens cover clear and things just get fuzzier. I even took the back panel out of the rear wardrobe to see if I could remove the damned thing. No, it's fitted on the outside. I'm now sure that the problem lies inside the housing.

Did your new camera solve what seems to be the same problem as mine?
Do you remember whether you could remove the cameras from the housing to allow cleaning and resealing?

Even if the cameras are still available to buy (at a suitable cost) which I doubt, mine is body coloured.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Folkranger yes the new camera solved the problem and is still in top form to this day from memory when the casing is removed there is not a lot that can be done with cameras I will have a look at the old camera if I can find it and see if they can be cleaned and re sealed but when I reported the problem they “Hymer” sent the complete unit with cameras and lights it seems they are a throw away item

If I can find it you are welcome to the camera that was not affected but don’t expect a quick response as if you saw my garage you would understand that it’s a major operation to find anything I’m not the tidiest of folk

That's very generous of you if you do find it. The hymer unit might be a "throw away unit" but I bet they charge a few hundred when selling them. Couldn't find the model online from the name/number you posted but even the most basic Camos cameras ran into hundreds.
