Rapido 803F
Our Rapido 803F, as with all these vans, does not have rear view mirror. We are looking to fit a rear view camera, in place of a mirror, but I find the array of cameras on offer overwhelming, and slightly perplexing.
We obviously do not have a rearview mirror, but I am happy to install a mirror, or a screen, to let me see what is close behind me when driving.
Has anyone got experience of this equipment; does it work; is it worth the bother; which ones work best/well/at all; what is the reasonable price. They seem to be available on flea-bay at prices ranging from £10.00 to £70.00, there must be a difference!
Help!

If I were doing one from scratch, I'd get a dual lens one. So it shows a narrow view up the road while you're driving. Then when you select reverse, it switches to a wide angle downward facing view of your rear bumper for delicate manoeuvring.

Had one on my previous van and it was great.

Second the above, driven thousands of miles without cameras but wouldn’t be without mine now, they just add that extra section of vision when reversing.

Third that, miss our dual camera on our old Pilote.
New Burstner has a camera in the radio, looking to change to a dual mounted on the mirror far better

Interesting. I’m thinking of going the other way. I have dual camera and the screen is the rear view mirror. But think I’m going to do away with mirror and use double din headunit screen as the monitor.
Why are you going for mirror?

At present we can't view the rear while driving, issue with screen going blue & no answer from fiat even though its a new van
I find that using an iPad on dash as satnav, then rear view monitor on mirror, that this gives me too much blind spot, which I find worse when driving abroad (where I do most miles), and so would like to loose the mirror and utilise the headunit which is useless at everything else (Pioneer unit)

For my dual lens, I wired it so I had the rear view permanently showing on a screen attached where the rear view mirror should be. The reversing view came up on the radio screen when I hit reverse.

Some headunits have dual camera inputs, but that involves buy again. So I think I’m going for a AV spliter, that will be switched with reverse input. Rear view all the time, then second camera upon selection of reverse.

Yes, perhaps I should have elaborated a bit.Our van has a rear view camera, it looks down when reverse is selected, and displays on the radio screen, if the radio is ever switched on. The satnav fitted we find very clunky and it is rarely used. What I am looking for is a straightforward rear view camera to supplement the excellent rear view mirrors.
