I'm looking to buy some Michelin Agilis Crossclimate 215/75 R16 to fit on my Hymer - revenue weight 4000 kg: rear axle 2200 kg, front axle 1850 kg.

I can buy them either with a load rating of 113 (max load 1150 kg) or 116 (max load 1250 kg). There's a significant difference in price between the two - over £40 at Black Circle.

What's the advice: fit the cheaper variant all round and still be within the load limit; play safe and fit all higher load index tyres; or fit the cheaper ones on the front and the more expensive ones on the rear?

113 will allow a max axle load of 2,300kg, nice to have a 10% margin on the axle but at that price difference I think I would go with the 113. Manufacturers don't seem to be bother of having a load margin.

No like you not to be extolling the virtues of van tyres!😜:X3:

Surely at 4000kg 225's would be more appropriate?

I don’t know, bit naive about tyres. Currently 215’s. Are they interchangeable?

4000kg??
Axle weight is 2200kg.
I know Lenny but the OP said the vehicle weighs 4000kg. No manufacturer today would sell a motorhome at that weight on 215's. Even the 3500kg Fords are on 235's.

With a 2200kg rear axle i suspect it would have been originally 3500kg.

Originally 3900 kg (apologies re orientation):

Other Hymers of a similar type and weight from the same period have the “215” tyres fitted. What would be the advantage in fitting “225’s” and can it be done on the same wheel.

Normally can be fitted to the same wbeel, you can get higher load bearing with 225, speedo will read a few percent lower but probably more accurate on a Fiat.
They will cost more and you need to check chassis and wheel arch clearance.
