Hey Gang,
I was using a fantastic facility at the weekend that allowed chemical & grey dumping. Voluntary donation. (Loch Lomond)

Thing was, it was a combined drain for both - and a request to hose it down afterwards. Thing is, the only hose I had was my fresh water hose - and I didn’t fancy using that on the bare tap there! I got away with it by dumping my remaining fresh water on top (I was heading home).

This got me thinking that perhaps I should carry a length of hose that I won’t mind getting manky. For this purpose, or rinsing the cassette.

Does this make sense to folks?

I have some spare hosepipe, but for the life of me, I can’t find the connector I had in mind anywhere. It’s the same as this one (but I don’t need the pipe) : https://www.southdownsmotorcaravans.com/00011-w4-fill-up-hose-water-fitting-1m.html

Anyone ever bought similar? I just thought it would be the simplest, most universal - rather than carry another set of hozelock or clamp connectors.

Thnx,
Heeb

Lightweight plastic 10 ltr watering can, does the job for me, I even carry two to refill fresh water tanks on rallies, saves me driving over to the tap and getting the hose out, and each trip is 20 ltrs, so usually only need 1or 2 visits to the tap to top up the fresh water tank, no queues either.(y)

Sorry cannot answer your question.. and can see your concern..
If you are talking about the facility at the North end of the Loch at Tarbet, I have never seen such a disgusting facility and I am in no way squeamish.
However we walked past that "drain" last week and the grill over the drain was clogged with soiled toilet paper and as Mrs Poppycamper pointed out an obviously very well used tampon..
Avert eyes and briskly walk past....👹👹👹

What makes you think by using your hose to hose down is going to contaminate your system, for 1 the water flows 1 way, the water in the tap probably is the same water you will find in the fresh water tap unless its fed from a cess pit, start thinking you may have an immune system and stop thinking you need to bleach the existence out of every living object and enjoy life

That’s a bit OTT mate!

I’m not in same post code, never mind ballpark, of the caricature you just invented in your head. Read the post immediately before yours for some context. And I’m talking about the tap here! It was indeed labelled ‘drinking water’, but given it was the only tap around, I’m gonna assume some people are sticking it in the end of their cassettes to rinse them. So forgive me if I don’t want to stick the connector of my fresh water pipe on it - but I do want to clean up any mess I leave.

That's the only kind I use!!
It could be a challenge in some places where it can't quite grip the tap & stay on unaided if I didn't have someone to hold the other end of the hose in the 'van inlet bqt I do so it'r fine 😊😊

Perfect! Thanks very much poppycamper!

(I do have to ask - what did you search for? I used lots of variations of universal tap connector! I’ll confess to not thinking about sticking in motorhome or campervan! )

You are over thinking this. Run some water through, catch a couple of handfuls and wash the fitting, connect and go. There is almost certainly less contamination risk than drinking a glass of water from a tap in a UK city.

Or as we do, have a small spray bottle with anti bac in and spray the tap (outside and up it's nozzle), rinse with the tap water and use as normal.

We actually drink our tank water and after 26 years are still alive! 🤪
