Rapido 680ff
Exp
since 2013
I have just been informed by my dealer that my 2016 680ff has had a recall.
Apparently the fuse for the fridge has to be changed from a 30amp to a 20amp (slow burner).

Has anyone else been informed of the recall?

Yes, received a letter with dire warnings - DO NOT USE - dated 9 August, the day AFTER we left for a month in France! doh...

And it took a further three weeks after our return to get it booked in for the remedial work, which I assume was fitting a lower rated fuse? Was told the workshop could only handle two of these recalls a day, and lots of folk had booked in ahead of us. Anyway, it's been done now. Haven't checked the fridge yet to see everything is working OK.

I spoke to the service manager, he said I (me) should change to the lower rated fuse.
He said a sticker should be applied to say the change has been made. I will get the sticker in due course.

1 fuse.:D......... They'll be charging Rapido a fortune to do so.

Do you know where the fuse is that you are supposed to change? Is it easily accessible?

If I remember correctly, I believe the problem is connected with the 12-volt operation, ie when driving. So the safety warning letter said I was to disconnect the 12-volt supply, but could use the fridge on gas or 230-volts, until the 'fix' was carried out. I just left it for the dealer to sort it out - the fridge was turned off after we returned from holiday.

The service receptionist at the dealer told me they needed to keep the vehicle all day, rather than me just wait for it to be sorted out. Got them to give me a loan car, so I could go the 20 miles home, and then back again to collect the van later.

I have CBE electrics and fuseboard they are located nearside (rhd) of my garage the fridge is clearly marked with a snowflake icon normal 30amp spade fuse. (Green) I replaced it with a 20 amp blade (yellow ) ....... I am not sure what is meant by slow burn and can't find such online.
Only slow burn i can find online are glass cylinder shaped things.

I will drop into dealer when i'm next passing.

Edit: some dealers have a poor workshop operating system and can't even get 15 minute jobs done without booking vans in for the full day.

Must admit I have my suspicions on that one...

Thanks for the detailed info, by the way!

Does anyone know if this is a general issue, model specific, manufacturing date specific?

I don't know, but assume so.

We have a 2016 Rapido V68 van conversion with a 135 litre three-way fridge.

I expect they used under sized wire on the fridge feed

The fuse was posted to me with instructions on where to fit it. Hope I got it right.

Was there anything special about the fuse or was it a bog standard 20amp yellow fuse.

Sadly that was fitted a long time ago and I thought I had done well, to remember that I had fitted it. For some reason I seem to think that the fuse didn’t have a rating number on it. But a lot of G&T’s have been consumed since then and with my attention span of a five year old——I could be talking a load of c**p. Hopefully someone else got their fuse posted and will be of more use to you.

My dealer has just responded to my question re the fridge fuse and has said we are not on the recall list -phew we are in Spain although I have a box full of fuses!

Our vehicle is an an 8 series A class 2015 build date in case that helps anyone else.
