Rapido Gas Locker

Currently trying to find entry points after discovering we have mice in the double floor of our 8096. Does anyone know what should be covering this hole in the gas locker? The hole leads through into the space where the heater hoses and electrical cables run, close to the passenger seat. (LHD if that matters?)
It just seems strange that there should be a hole there and it not have some sort of grommet or blanking plug!
Mind you, the gas pipe runs down through the locker floor turns left and then up into the double floor through a hole big enough to get even the fattest mouse in....

That was my first thought but the hole leads, indirectly, to the cabin and so allows cold air in. Surely if nothing passes through it, then it should be closed? Surely it's not a vent? Especially from the gas locker to the cabin.....
