We are off to France tomorrow evening and when adding a little water ........ I got a puddle in the cupboard under the sink. I assume that the rubber seal needs replacing.
Can I get an O ring selection from B&Q to fit????

Thanks for you experts out there who can solve my last minute problem!!!

I can't answer re getting one from B&Q, but it's worth a try I suppose. Take the cap with you for comparison.

If no joy, remove the existing O ring carefully, clean it, then the cap, plus the mating surface of the waste pipe. Next, smear some silicone grease to the recess in the cap, then on the O ring, then on the mating surface of the waste pipe. Assemble it all hand tight, plus a bit, and test for leaks.

Good luck,

Jock. :)

If you can’t get a seal a wipe over with silicone sealer. Let it dry and will be ok till you can properly sort

Thank you

Thank you Jock, I cleaned it up carefully thenput it back in place. I noticed that it could be tightened on clockwise and anti-clockwise. I tried anticlockwise and tested it. It now seems okay, no leakage. Saved me a trip to B&Q!

Thank you, if I get a further problem I'll try that.

Tightening either way, explains the flanges seen on the cap in your image.

I am pleased that you are sorted. 👍
Have a Pelforth Brune for me please when you are in France. ;)

Cheers. 🍺

Jock. :)

Avoid B&Q and go to a plumbers merchants/supplies. Taking it with you.

They’ll have no end of sizes available, and they will be more stores to chose from
