Dear font of deep and varied knowledge. We have a 2013 Fiat Ducato-based Bessacarr coach-built motorhome. The radio/cd player is integral in the dashboard but not terribly clever. It’s external media capability stopped with the early iPod and it won’t recognise recent phones plugged into it’s USB socket. Bluetooth is only to pickup phone calls - so it’s an old model anyway
Today, suddenly, all I hear on the radio is shash ( a noise that sounds like that word). That’s whilst driving - stop and turn off the engine and it sounds fine.
Has the radio suddenly disconnected from it’s aerial? There is no externally visible aerial - any suggestions where that aerial might be found please? Is there a ‘suppressor’ of engine electrical activity that might have gone pop?
Also suddenly the USB socket in the lower compartment seems to be knackered - it now appears to accept a plug inserted either way ( should be only one correct way) but the radio recognises nothing of external media.
Is it time to go and get someone to replace the radio? If so where in the south/ Kent/ Sussex area please? I’d be very grateful for comments and pointers from this knowledgable fraternity.

Generally on ducatos the original aerial is built into the N/S mirror housing but this gets altered over time due to the mirror been damaged etc and on mine it is now a stick on job on the glass by the A pillar.

Thanks chippie that’s a helpful clue. My lower N/S mirror got dislodged some time ago and two of the four circle grips were cracked off. I wedged it back in place, but maybe some cable damage done. Though this shash only appeared yesterday. I’ll have a poke around. I suppose you had to take the radio out to plug in your ‘stick on job’?
