Remember that if you want to use your iPad for CarPlay navigation, make sure the iPad has GPS. Not sure if it's still the case, but it used to be that WiFi iPads (without 4G) didn't have GPS.
If you link it to your iPad it possibly should as a personal hot spot.
Anything with Bluetooth should be able to stream music from your iPad.

I had a quick look at the PlusCentre. What features do you want to use? It's basically an Android tablet in your dashboard. There are quite a lot of them about. The basic model is WiFi only and 2GB, which might slow it down quite a bit. Start-up time is important, you don't want to be waiting a couple of minutes before you can use it.

I've got a cheap Bluetooth / VHF adapter that sits in one of the cig lighter sockets - you tune your radio to it. It ain't HiFi but it works - unless you also pick up a local station on 85.7 Fm!

I'm also in the process of disconnecting the rear speakers from the van radio (we can't hear them over the rattles) and fitting a small Bluetooth amplifier so we can use them in the evenings.

I looked at the PlusCentre one and decided against it - you'll need to have it fitted by someone who understands the vehicle cambus system and can reset it if the speedo starts flashing.

I paid €400 for a double size that fits in the dashboard perfectly and using Android Auto I have the Tom Tom go GPS on the screen and the voice through the van speakers. However, sometimes it does not connect properly so I have to switch off everything and start again. I have not tried playing music yet, but apparently it will play using Bluetooth and there is also Spotify and all the rest that comes with Android Auto. I'm still not sure if it is a connection problem or Android maybe, but hopefully I'll get it sorted eventually.

I've got a Sony XAV 9" and use Android Auto. Previous experience has shown it can be very picky about cables. Poor quality cables that have been yanked too many times tend to cause issues. I mostly use an AAwireless dongle, which seems reliable... although it does drop out at the same location on the M1 every time for a few seconds before resuming.

If you are trying to connect to your iPad then you need a unit with apple CarPlay . Android units can have an app added to them to make it work. But wow. It’s crap, and painful. Was playing with one the other day as the owner couldn’t get it to work.

Just fitted a Pioneer one with Apple CarPlay and the GPS unit came with it and plugs into the back, my iPad does not have GPS and works fine..
