I know I should know this, but t'interweb is coming back with enough ambiguity to make me consult the Oracle(s)

I have 215/R70s. Do I need to tell the insurance, DVLA, Fiat, next door neighbour, etc if I want to go up to 225/R70 tyres? I am going to up-plate to 3850 if the Govt do decide to add C1 to everyone's B licence, but can I get the tyres on the bus now?

hi i have done this many times never considered that i would need to inform insurance ,,maybe if you were changing wheel size ,,you might ,but this i think ,is only the profile you would be changing ,,just checked its 4mm larger dont think it will make much difference

Leaning towards this suggestion Chris. Cheers.
I agree with Chris .
Presumably you are concerned that they will increase your premium. If they do, it may indicate that they consider the change a 'material fact' which needs to be disclosed and not withheld.
If they don't consider it a material fact and don't increase the premium there's no problem.
Two years after fitting a towbar it ocurred to me that I hadn't advised my insurer. No problem, they said and no premium increase.

Rang Comfort Insurance and their policy on changing tyre sizes is nice and simple. As long as the tyres are road legal, then they have no problem in changing tyre sizes. No increase in insurance premium.
And, the helpful lady there said she would send me an email confirming it.

Not sure if this is the same for other insurers though.

Comfort are quite chilled about a lot of stuff.

I added air suspension and it said no problem. I asked for their policy of leaving the vehicle parked up somewhere other than it's usual storage place for a week and they were fine with a few details about where it was going to be and what security was in place. (normal limit is 48 hours) Always very quick replies via email.

With insurance companies it is always best to tell them, I was told if you fail to tell them about any upgrade in the case of a total loss they can claim the vehicle was under insured and reduce the payout. Remember no matter how friendly they seem when they are taking your money they are total b@st@rds when you want their money.
