Chausson 728eb
Sorry if this is a question thats been asked to death, but its not about the actual up plating, but rather the ramifications afterwards.

We have a 2017 Chausson 728EB, built on a Ducato with the comformatic gearbox and it has a relatively low payload. We are thinking about up plating and one thing we are concerned about is this.

If we go over the 3500kg mark will we have any issues with LEZ around London as our storage site is just within the M25 where the LEZ starts. I know the emissions from the engine (its ULEZ exempt) will stay the same, but, has anyone had any experience of this?

Thanks in advance

I think you will find uprating won’t make any difference to ULEZ as you still have same engine? Ours is 4500kg and Euro 6
just checked and we are exempt from ULEZ but have to pay congestion charge😊

Yes, ULEZ is about what comes out of the exhaust, not weight. Might be worth checking up on the congestion charge rules though, if they are relevant.

We have a 2018 Merc Sprinter 3850kg base with a Euro 6 engine
We do not pay ULEZ charges.

ULEZ charges are based on pollution levels, not weight

(Central London Congestion charges are based on size, not pollution levels)

I fully understand the ULEZ and Congestion charge as I live in Central London, it's the LEZ that affects HGV which I'm concerned with!

You should be Euro VI so fine for LEZ so just ULEZ £12.50 to pay inside the centre zone. If you don't meet Euro VI then it's jokingly expensive. We are Euro IV so have to pay £100/day inside the M25 but at least the ULEZ charge if £12.50 isn't added in for the very centre

My take on it is if you qualify for ULZE then you do the LEZ🤔

Whether you need to pay the LEZ charge depends on your emissions (you can check your vehicle on TFL website here). The amount you then have to pay depends on your weight. If you are over 3.5t it is £100 per day, and over 5t. is £300 per day.
