Over on movan's post about the LPG shortage, @Basildog mentioned a Gaslow hose:

with some discussion about it on that thread from @Dorset Diver, @pappajohn, @Brakers and others.

So a question please to clarify my complete (newbie) lack of understanding:

Is this hose something you might attach to your empty, underslung LPG tank's filler, with the other end being plugged into maybe a 6Kg Gaslow bottle?

The result being not that your tank gets a refill but that you can supply gas to your appliances?

Or do I have this all wrong?

I'm at the point of trying to justify the cost of an underslung LPG tank install, but it's a worry if there are going to be ongoing LPG shortages. If there's a simple enough backup though, I might feel better about the tank.

Cheers,
Andy.

p.s. Interesting that those hoses seem to have sold out now.

Bang on, though it doesn't need to be "plugged into" only a Gaslow bottle.
The hose screws into the internal thread on the Gaslow Fill Kit.
The other end of the hose connects directly to any 21.8LH cylinders or our range of Gaslow 21.8LH Adapters, so you can connect to all European cylinders.
The gas will be drawn from the reserve cylinder, through one of the refillable cylinders to the regulator.
Note that it will not transfer liquid gas into the refillable cylinder, so gas from this cylinder will only be used if the refillable is empty.

Backfeed via a BBQ point into the system, make sure you have a regulator on the bottle. Turn off the tank though to avoid issues.

Right! But just to clarify, and sorry to be a complete numpty  would it screw into a filler on the outside panel for an underslung tank that wasn't installed by Gaslow? Never been near an LPG pump before you see, so forgetting abroad for the moment can I assume that tank and Gaslow filler's all have the same thread for the hose? Or would I need to buy a Gaslow filler when having the tank installed so that it could fit the hose?

Cheers, Andy.

Hi @Pernickety I see according to your profile you have not yet purchased a Motor home. I have a Autotrail Cheyenne 840D which is a 5 tonne tag axle vehicle when fully loaded.

After looking into underslung tanks I.e. where to place it what size could be installed I came to the conclusion that in my instance it would not be a viable solution.
I opted to go for Alugas bottles which reduce the weight and can be transferred should I change my vehicle which to me made more sense.
Best Wishes Tony
