Still dropping clangers and making it up as I go along
that was what I thought it a replacement for a faulty one

It’s not clear to me if either of those are ‘pure sine wave’ or ‘modified sine wave’ inverters.
I’d stay clear of the modified sine wave variants.

I would also be cautious about the cigarette lighter input. My cigarette lighter socket is rated at 15A and both those devices are capable of drawing more than that. How many Watts was the defective one you are replacing and what was the fault?

Its replacing this it would work well but kept dropping out of the socket and loosing connection, so the laptop would stop charging and I would keep using it then blah

I can see why that would keep dropping out of the socket. 150W is about as much as I would want to take from a cigarette lighter socket. Do they do a 150W one with a wire between the inverter and the socket? Another option is an extension lead so that the socket is not carrying the weight.

We have a Bestek pure sine wave inverter for our e-bike chargers. It works OK as an inverter but the variable speed fan was noisy especially on full power.

I changed the cooling fan to a Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX, Premium Quiet Fan. It's now silent.

I have also put a dedicated high quality 12V socket in that is directly fed with a fused supply from the Lithium leisure battery. This provides the necessary 20A required on full load.

At the price I think we know the answer ?

I charge my 15" laptop on a USB C PD adapter. It's limited to 30w (because the input is 12v), so if I'm playing games or actually working while it's plugged in, it's slow to charge, but it works. It's a lot less faff than dealing with invertors and power supplies.

I am going to stick my neck in here. Neither !
Agree, I've gone right off cheap inverters those will be modified sine wave I wouldn't use them with a laptop.
Even the cheaper pure sine wave ones are not very good.

I've come to the conclusion with an inverter it's worth spending a bit (lot) more on Victron or similar quality.

Seeing as Lenny hasn’t answered yet I’ll do it for him….

“I wouldn’t buy those AGM crap batteries I threw mine out”… 😆
What you on today boy?
The thread is about inverters.

thank you for all the responses I need to charge my laptop when away so I can 'work from wheels'

I do have the little one that I bought which seems to work, so the 'inverter' will just be in the cupboard somewhere

I use one of these. I've also got a USB C cable with a little display that reports the amount of power flowing. It frequently reaches 30w on PD mode, which is better than the specs claim.

Bestek do a pure sine wave inverter. I bought one for a different job originally. I too was apprehensive to start with but when I scoped the output I was surprised how pure the sine wave was on different loads.

Anyway it's still going: BESTEK 300W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter DC 12V to AC 230V 240V with 4.8A Dual Smart USB Ports Car Adapter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076P9PGX3/?tag=mhf04-21
