Quest 4 died this morning!

So I like the idea of these, are they really 1 minute for one person to put up and take down?
Are they robust in wind?
Do the side walls mesh protect well from the sun?

Are there other makes good or better than the quest?

Go on youtube and search Quest screen house.. Several videos showing the erections (oh er missus)..

We have the 4+4 version... Use it all the time. DONT buy other makes like the ones off the shopping channels etc.. Stick with Quest.

Love ours, bought last year from Jackson's of old story in Coventry, chap out it up in-store for hubby and i to see, very quick . We bought the pro, it has external sides a!Ready attached which you can in zip..or roll up..we left ours attached, just roll up, got the 4' big enough for our 2 chairs and table, with room to spare, was in Norfolk few weeks back..took us 5 mins to put up in all..can also watch you tube video..rained heavily,,no leaks. Was great..yes but costly £240. But suits our needs, fits under our van. Think weighed either 11.5 or 13kilo.. (y)

We would certainly recommend them as well.
First two photos are with the sides on and the last without.

The ones from the shopping channels which are unbranded are NOT Quest and are of an inferior quality, I know 'cause we had some so were able to see the differences not only in the material but the construction.

One thing that all should do though is get some waterproofing liquid and give all freestanding awnings and attachable awnings (not roll out Fiamma, Thule etc) a treatment every couple of years, more if you leave them out in the sun for a long time, as the treatment not only ensures they stay waterproof but importantly gives UV protection too which is what 'kills' a lot of awnings, tents etc.

Ideal World definitely sold Quest branded ones previously, not sure with the one I posted above as the brand isn’t mentioned but it does match others listed from camping shops (description and photos)

Yes they did sell Quest ones but then started with the inferior unbranded ones, if you want to take the risk then do so but I speak from personal experience, they look the same but they aren't, one difference is with the materials used, the poles weren't as strong for example, the cloth not as 'thick' and the quality of some of the stitching etc left a lot to be desired.

Unless you are certain that what you are buying is a genuine Quest then I woulnd't go near it.

They do still sell a canopy which looks as if for a Quest. The Quest doesn’t seem to have the external frame.
<Broken link removed>

Yes, they also do the sides too which makes it very confusing but, they don't as far as I can tell, have any Quest or other screen houses of the same type for sale at the moment, just one with an external frame. It may be that they are going to go back into selling Quest ones or both ... who knows!

I might wait till next year. It would only be for rallies or events as we couldn’t carry it normal travelling / touring.

Annie, I strap mine across the bike rack.... don't know if that helps you at all. X
We don’t have a rack and the only boot space is taken up by the Bromptons. We travel light in goods carried but heavy on road, as IH’s tend to be on the heavy side and close to 3500kg.

This was us couple weeks back 1st
time we had used it, great use of space to have.
I assume it was pregnant when you put it up as it appears to have produced a little one! :giggle:

We!l it needs a dr. Now ...silly ..but put it up Friday when arrived in slapping sands, South Devon..only 3rd time using it... Woke up gone completely, even had table and chairs in it...hubby found it down the field...poor quest needs A&E :X3: ...gales really bad ( live and learn), skint again! Will see if it's salvagable, hopefully break in the weather tomorrow , see what damage!

Had you pegged it down with pegs in the corners and/or the storm straps?

I wanted to get one after seeing Armytwowheels using one when we were at Jim’s recently. Ordered it from Norwich Camping Sunday night and they posted it on 24hr delivery Monday so we have it all ready for our trip back to Jim’s today. Let’s hope these strong winds die down as I’m excited to try putting it up. Might film it in case it ends up like a clip from carry on camping

We were at Holgates in Silverdale. They prohibit them. Massive no no.
At a CMC site who were a bit confused by it. Very strong winds last night and tons of rain.
The roof popped down a couple of times (you know, the first pull down as you pack down) until I added some internal lashings. I was nervous about it last night but it did stay up.Leaked along some stitching but I think that happens to a lot of new awnings until the stitching swells a bit.
I have to say I might take the driveaway awning next week to Devon.

Have had our new one up for the last few days at Stonehaven. It was very windy, but i had it pegged down as suggested in the handbook and it did not move. Slight leak the first night but it was virtually dry by the last day.
