PVC Longitudinal Beds

I have changed my PVC to one with a longitudinal bed, which I have to say was the right decision. But I have one issue, and I can’t be the only one. How do you stop your pillows pushing into the rear blinds? No matter how I place the pillows during the night they push back and into the rear blinds?

Any solutions?

On my Malibu they fit a board in the lower part of the rear window that stops that,
It’s also easy to remove if you want,

On our Burstner I fitted Perspex with a gap each side so I could raise and lower the blind.

There's a Funster Jezport, who used to sell perspex covers for the rear barn doors. I have some anxiety they work well.

Thanks for the photo, I will look at the blinds and gaps and see if I can fabricate something.

Either fit some sort of headboard, perspex or grid, or alternatively don't use the blinds at night and make some pads to fit in the window, the latter has the bonus that it gives insulation too so your head won't get so cold.

I would just sleep the other way round. Would also reduce condensation on the glass as you are not breathing right next to it.

I bought 2 lengths of round aluminium thick wall tube, 7mm section. Bent and shaped the ends to fit around each side of the window blind casing. rounded off and flattened the rod ends to make them smooth, drilled a hole in each end to screw them onto the blind case and mounted them 65mm apart near the case bottom.
Can still easily get your hand in to raise and lower the blinds.

Never had a drop of condensation on the rear or side windows. We sleep with our heads at the back where the beds are wider and the reading lights are positioned. I also like to open the blinds when the alarm goes off in the morning to let the light in and see what the weather is doing. Not sure how I would climb out of bed in the night without disturbing my bed partner if I slept the other way round.

Same problem.. I had some 9mm ply going spare which was almost the same colour a the door panel, which I cut to shape and it works a treat!
It is held on by heavy grade velcro so it can come off if needed, but to be honest I can reach the window locks and the blinds move freely, so I doubt if it will need to be removed other than for dusting etc.

We too have the issue of pillows against the blind. We couldn’t sleep the other way round, getting up in the night would be a nightmare. There are some interesting solutions here.

We had this concern but have not managed to push the pillows into the blinds as yet with no protection.

Buy a Hymer. They give you a plank of plywood to do that job.

Two planks, in fact. One for each side.

They fit just the same as in your 'photo.

yes same here works well. I used velcro to attach it to the door panels

Hi Lostinspace, it is a Hymer but no sign of anything to protect the windows.

However, I am trying out a memory foam bolster pillow. It runs across the width of the bed and is rigid enough not to push into the window blinds. See how it works.

Padded headboards we bought in Bauhaus in Germany. 3D printed clips. These are specific for an Adria Twin 640 SLB.

Just ordered a PVC with this layout and was planning on getting or making up a set of the rear curtains like these and creating a pair of pockets just a bit larger than the rear windows into which I can place a couple of pieces of cut down ply or MDF just a bit bigger than the window surround but will also consider some of these other ideas.
