Hi all,
As first time Portsmouth/ Santander ferry users with motorhome can anyone recommend a decent pub for food with easy 7m motorhome parking that allows dogs? We are on a 2245 hours ferry out so have to check in by 2115 so to avoid rush hour round M25 will leave our place about 1530 - 1600 hours then eat somewhere near the terminal.... with your help... please

TIA

Port Solent complex.
You can park safely for free. Loads of food outlets and wetherspoons.
Some shopping outlets aswell.
Thanks for the reply but I think those type of chain eateries are not dog friendly so I really think it will need to be a pub

You may be able to get a take away.
There is a good chippie in Porchester about a mile away.

You can try the Churchillian at Cosham, it does get busy so you may not get in the car park however you can park across the road and the website says it's dog friendly, I stayed overnight across the road on my return to Portsmouth from France.

PO6 4TS and mind our for the sleeping policemen. The second one just before the turning for the tip is really vicious.

There are several that are dog friendly think we had an Italian meal was pretty good. Should be fine and a great place to park up feels very safe (y)

Portchester Castle isn't far away, we found loads of free on street parking next to the castle.
Church within the castle grounds does fantastic pies and the castle ( Eng heritage) is worth a visit.
The castle has a pay and display carpark.
Nice pub in the high st which seemed full of diners all day ... ( not sure if dog friendly)
I went in in the evening and last orders was called at 9pm.

Got fined for out staying our welcome at the Sutton Scotney Motorway services last August. We were on the late ferry and the previous time we were turfed off the holding area as we arrived too early. The Churhillian Pub look ideal. Also looks as if it is easy to get back on to the M27 for the run into the ferry terminal.
Roll on next May
Thanks for the suggestion.

The Ship Inn, Langstone allows stopovers and is in a lovely spot. It’s popular though so you’d want to arrive out of peak times.

Great pub, lovely place. Very good info!!

We took our dog into Port Solent recently there were a few dog friendly places to eat there and the parking is free😊👍

If you have bikes on the back beware...Cycle theft is rife in Portsmouth...Angle grinder equipped gangs..BUSBY.

Mind the tide at the Ship 😊
And the parking!!
Go past a few times a week and I wouldn’t fancy parking my van to far in as they to like to pack them cars in there😳😳
Better to park in the lay-bye on the right just before the pub.

Nightmare parking a car, never mind a motorhome. Very popular place. As for the tidal warning, that applies to the bit past the Royal Oak but it would be a brave motorhomer who drove down there. There's a lay-by on the right across the bridge, opposite the garage but often also full. Stick with Port Solent as you'll never be stuck there.
