Couple of years.
I’ve been banging on about buying new tyres recently and now that the deed is done I‘ve turned my mind to looking after said tyres!
I read somewhere about using a UV and rubber protector called appropriately ‘303 Aerospace Protectant‘ - has anyone any experience of using this stuff?
Cheers, P.

I’ve just rubbed some boiled linseed oil into my 4 year old ones which are Bridgestone Duravis and there is no signs of any cracking, in fact the inside walls look like new.

Tyre compounds have moved on a lot in the past few years. They're now only a fifth natural rubber. I'd be cautious about applying chemicals.

I'm looking at Bridgestone Duravais next time out. Would you recommend them?

It was suggested to me to get UV covers for the wheels when we park up. And to remove the wheels completely for over-wintering. Seems to me to be unnecessary cosseting. My 5 year old Michys are still in good nick. All I do is move the motorhome a few inches every few weeks to avoid flat spots. Call me weird, but the idea of putting oil on the tyres which rely on friction to work properly worries me! And ever more, it is recommended by Kwik Fit and I am very wary of anything they say.

Bridgestone Duravis tyres have been good on my van, it came new with them and I have replaced them once, no sign of any cracking at all.
I have only rubbed a bit of linseed oil into the side walls and when parked up in Spain for a month or two I do cover any tyres that are in the sun.

I used to worry about these things.
Remove the wheels over winter; drive a few cm every week (not winter, obviously).
Cover with wood sheets during the summer.

I haven’t done that for 7 years and my tyres seem fine 😉

Tyre covers for my MH. Just replaced 7 yr old Michelin CP's with Conti Vanco. I also use tyre paint every year or two to smarten them up and also provide a bit of protection.

Wheel covers are easy to fit and offer all the protection needed.
UV damages tyres, if the sun can't shine on the tyres it can't damage them.
