Last year I had blood in the urine for well over a week, sometimes none then there again, clots came out in the first couple of days. Blood in semen was dark old blood, several days later and caused some discomfort.
This time I appear to be bleeding less, released after the first urine sample about 45 mins post procedure.
Definitely much less blood at home, (6hrs since at writing this) last year it was like peeing red wine and was a little concerning.

Saw my consultant yesterday for final chat about my RT starting tomorrow , he started by saying ‘as long as I sign off your scans we are good to go’

I was told that the CT scan picked up some ‘gas’ moving down my bowel and may need redoing , I really thought they would have checked by now 🤔🙁

But he did say if we don’t get a phone call today we are good to go, so day 1 for me tomorrow , been well on top of hydration, even starting to enjoy water as a drink 🙄

Hoping for none of the numerous side effects mentioned although mostly under 1:10 risk many 1:100

Good luck DavidG58 the days will fly by. As others have said make the most of the social atmosphere of the waiting room, it becomes quite a little club.
If you are lucky like me the side effects will be minimum.
Bowel empty and bladder full are the rules of the day, it's just the timing of the latter that can be a bit of a challenge.
Keep us posted on progress.

Day 1 I am told my bladder was slightly fuller than needed but better than not full enough 👍

Day 2 I drink a bit less before setting off for hospital , drink my 500ml on arrival, set up on table told not full enough drink another 250ml we will try again in 20 mins .

All good at pre scan then machine breaks, tried several resets , still no good. Go back outside we will get you in next door. This is now 80 mins after arriving and really ready for a wee. Called to other room after 10 mins, scan good then this machine stops again, but goes again after 2 restarts

2 hours after last wee and after 750ml drink I can get loo, a true relief

They said they get the odd glitch but very rarely both machines on same day, never same patient

Hoping that’s my indoctrination and it will all go easily from here 🤔👍

In our local jargon it could be said that "You must have trodden on a nest of toads"
As you've discovered it's all in the timing of the fluid intake and when the hospital process has a glitch the problems occur. Of my 20 fractions two were thrown out of sync by the RT team trying to make up time and one by my miscalculation.
Good luck with the future sessions but don't bother with the National Lottery for a few weeks after that experience.

Early morning phone call yesterday: “can you do Saturday 5 October for your surgery?”
YES
“Be at the day procedure unit at 7am. Pre-op on Friday 27 September at 9am. Catheter removal at 10:30 am on 22 October”

Seems pretty organised to me!
All I have to do now is keep my nerves under control.

At this morning PreOp Assessment the ECG threw up a problem with my heart. I see an an aneasthetist on Tuesday to determine if I’m capable of undergoing the procedure 🙄

I guess I’m grateful that another health issue has been discovered and that, hopefully, it will be resolved. There are other ways of dealing with my prostate but a non-functioning heart is not an option ☹️

All going pretty well for me, day 8 out of 20 RT treatments

No issues today but I was told my bladder was small today but just passed their tolerance levels

Maybe being Friday helped 🤔😁

I could actually tell I wasn’t so ‘full’ as often bursting for a wee when I go in, good reminder to up the water intake before arriving

Good luck all of you whatever stage you are at 👍

The thing you have to consider Rapido925M is that the anaesthetist is not only responsible for getting you to sleep, but also for waking you up again and monitoring you thereafter for however long that takes, to make certain you really are OK. Hence what they say, goes, so we keep our fingers crossed you get the go ahead on Tuesday.

I'm a relative Newbie
3 1/2 yrs in Remission and going strong. Never knew, discovered by accident following a blood test for something else during Covid Pandemic. PSA 25. Diagnosed with Stage 3 Localised Advanced Prostate Cancer. Biopsy 23 out of 25 samples positive. Thankfully Cancer had not spread from the Prostate, though it could not be removed. A month of Radiotherapy plus Hormone injections. Point is I didn't have any recognisable symptoms, if it hadn't been for the unrelated blood test it would have been too late.
See your Doctor and insist on a PSA Blood test. It's your right.

I think most of us on this thread know, but also spread the word as far as we can

My doctors wouldn’t test me ‘just in case’ but my dull ache in my groin which they said wouldn’t be prostate cancer and maybe wasn’t, triggered my test and diagnosis like you effectively with no symptoms

Talking to other patients at the RT clinic there are so many variations from different practices but mostly seem to put off doing PSA checks

One ‘lucky’ chap diagnosed by biopsy with PC, sent for body scan to check if it had spread to his bones. They found an unrelated cancer growth in one kidney. He now has only kidney and not Prostate gland

So sad that so many don’t find out in time
